What is Primer Sealer?

Is there an "off the shelf" alternative to ordering this stuff from a gun store?

I read somewhere that it's thinned gasket compound.

Any ideas?

Nail polish is the old favorite. Color is your choice.

It was demanded by the Dept of National Defense in the making of ammo for ammo could then be laying in the water, covered with snow or you hame it & still be fired.

You might still see it in RCMP ammo for I use to see some of their 39Spl with that bit of red laquer--nail polish around the primer. Do not know about 9X19.
