What is the average size black bear harvested in Ontario?

This is one I shot a few nights ago... there are big bears out there, but most don't put in the time to get on them, or the patience to pass up good bears (or even the first bear), to connect with the bruisers... that is why so many 2 1/2 year old bears get shot... they are the largest demographic, and the most active and inexperienced. Ground shrinkage is more extreme with bears than any other big game animal.View attachment 967838View attachment 967839View attachment 967840
What's the green score on the skull with that one Hoyt? Pushing 7 squared?

Fair enough. Looked a touch rubbed, but a hammer of a bear.
Yeah, both were big boars... the sows were in heat from June 8th through season close on the 15th... the big bears had empty stomachs and were prowling and non-stop grunting, hot on the pheromone trails... I wish our season still ran until June 30th... the hunting only gets better in the second half of June.

Ours runs until the 30th. Hoping to get out once or twice yet as there are some big ones being shot the last couple days.

Both yours look like they were pretty solid boars alright. Nice work!
