Already have a Delta, so that's what I voted.Haven't tried the others on the list. I'd have a hard time choosing between it ,my 1006 or my G29 though.

I'd grab a Delta if you can find one. Dan Wesson no longer produces a 10mm (very nice guns though (have shot)). My only concern with a 1911 in 10mm is that they weren't really designed for that kind of power. I think that's where a Delta would shine as far as 1911s go. Its more than just a conversion. (I've held one, never shot). For a new cartridge like the 10mm I'd personally lean toward a modern designed pistol like the glock.

I'm partial to Colt Deltas myself.....

While it is true that the 2010 Dan Wesson lineup did not include a 10mm pistol, their 2011 product line will include a couple of 10 mm's... So back to business as usual for DW.

Probably give the DW a go... The deltas used to have issues with frames cracking, kimber build quality can't be trusted and AO is always hit or miss.

The colts might be as good or better than the dan wessons but they did have issues back when they were big news, which I guess is a good fifteen years ago now.

And here I thought I was up to date!:p

I don't see it on the website, got a link? It'd be good news for sure if they come up with another 10mm for the market.
That said, I sure hope its not the one I just saw pictured over at thr... yeeesh.

CZ does a horrible job of keeping the DW website up to date with accurate info. But the 2011 CZ catalog is out and it does show that the Razorback will once again be coming out in a 10 mm version! I thought that I saw oe read somewhere that the CBOB was coming out in 10 mm again as well, but that one may just be wishful thinking on my part...

There are a couple of threads in the DW forum at 1911forum.com as well where Keith from DW talks a bit about the upcoming 2011 lineup.

Yep, looking forward to the VLTOR Fortis. Right now have a Smith & Wesson 1006. Great solid piece, but never been a big fan of the grip on the smiths, and the trigger guard can bite. Recoil very manageable though as this is no small handgun. I've been meaning to get a hogue grip for it.

Well i already have a Bren 10 in the safe.:D To me i love the look of the DW line of 10mm's from a year or so ago.
But i am also drawn to the Colts. NAA how rare are the stainless ones? That looks sweet!

Misanthropist, i have never heard Kimber sucks???

I have a blued Colt Delta Elite, Glock 20 & Glock 29 but if I were to go for a new 10mm I would be tempted to get one

Semi-auto = DW/Kimber I consider these appr the same or a single stack s/s STI or a made to my spec's Fusion...

In a revolver other than I think S&W used the wrong frame I would get a shortened to 4.25" 610...

I've also thought about if it were possible re-working a s/s 4.2" GP100 --> 10mm...

Ah so many options and not enough money to bite right now...

:(

Yeah, typically cheap small parts and poor QC

People like them because you get a lot of features on a relatively cheap gun, but there is a reason for that...

Of the ones listed, Colt or Dan Wesson would be my choice.

Early Colt Delta Elites would sometimes crack the frame at the top of the hole cut for the slide lock. This was fixed by milling out the part that cracked, making the the hole into an open-topped notch. Even a frame cracked at this location will still work fine.

Kimbers are basically a good frame/slide/barrel kit with variable quality of small parts and assembly. In addition, the grip safety actuated firing pin block is prone to malfunction. The popularity of Kimber pistols is due to two reasons:

1. Kimber is better at marketing than making guns.
2. Most gun buyers do not run high round counts through their guns.

Good read. Thanks for the link!

I've seen lots of blued ones [and owned a couple different ones myself]. Not sure on the numbers of stainless ones, I have seen some stainless Deltas, though. On the stainless Delta Gold Cups I have only ever seen 2, the one I have and one that has come up for sale in the EE a couple of times. If you do a search there under "Colt" it may still be there.
