What is the best .22 rile/pistol in your opinion

Best rifle - cz 452 american.
Pistol - Browning buckmark

While I agree with the CZ, I would suggest either a High Standard target, either used or new; but the new ones are pricey. I have an old one from the 70's and my only regret is not having the target version with the heavy barrel and adjustable sights: https://www.highstandard.com/hs22-pistol-p-1952.html; I think one of the sponsors who import firearms could bring one in as I know of no dealers in Canada. By the time you get it here, it would likely be 1200 cdn.

Mine is not that nice, but maybe some day....

Yes ... and the High Standard Supermatic Trophy Model 102 Space gun is one of the best imo for target shooting..... I like the model 102 with the rear sight forward on the barrel as opposed to the '103' model with the rear sight on the slide

Semi auto in a Rimfire rifle gets old quickly.

When I first got my pal. I couldn't wait to get a 10/22.
But now after owning a CZ 452lux. And then an Anschutz 64, the Ruger hardly gets out of the safe.

I can only answer to what are my favorites right now as this is a very subjective question. For the rifle a Winchester model 61. For the pistol a Browning 1911-22. The Winchester pump action is a classic and super sweet shooter. The Browning is a nice scaled down 1911. I like that it's smaller and more compact to meet the size of the .22, and it's allowed in Canada.

There's a ton of choices. 10/22 is what I consider the lego gun of Semi 22's. A nice bolt action 22 like a Winchester is always nice.

Also like others have said, the Sr22 is just a 10/22 with a AR type stock on it. You can easily buy a 10/22 and put similar stocks on it. You might like that better or save money.

Cheers

Do you have a membership to a shooting range? They will ask for that membership number before approving transfer of a restricted....... unless you tell them you wish to be a collector. Then you are subject (apparently) to an inspection of your chosen storage to ensure safe storage compliance. Please pipe up if I am off base.

He’s in Ontario, they won’t hold up the transfer due to not having a range membership. As far as I know inspections are rare.

I am approved to be a member of a local club, still need to take the club safety class and pay the remaining balance (cant do that until you take the class)

Accurate guns are fun to shoot! If you can’t hit what you want then why bother? My “10/22” is a Valquartsen, and shoots well, bolts in shorter style are Brno’s, CZ,Rem 541, and of course, an old Cooey :). Buy a well made gun and your grandkids will be able to shoot it. I still feel the CZs are a good value. ( check on above dealers for price, some are less new than some on EE). As far as hand guns most shoot better than me. I like the Rugers and Brownings auto but have a couple of wheel guns that are fun to shoot. When you get your membership see what others are using and try what ever you can. Good luck and welcome.

UPDATE: Guys I just wanted to update you all on my purchases.

A good friend is moving west and offered to sell me his S&W M&P .40 with only 150 rounds fired... price was amazing couldn’t turn it down. I also picked up a bolt action Savage mrk II fxp at Cabelas Boxing Day sale with scope.. $299 + 50$ mail in rebate.

Thanks for the help.

Nice choices on the guns, I really like the SR22 they can be a lot of fun to shoot. Most are good and totally problem free but a few people have some issues with them. Most times its the choice of ammo, try a few brands and see what works best. Another of my favorite 22 pistols is the Beretta madel 71, these are very nice high quality pistols and are very reliable. And they can usually be found very reasonlable.

Ahhh..... the old “tactical vs classical” argument..... just so you know where I stand...

I absolutely love my Buckmark rifle.
I I've got bolts and other semi's but that Browning is a pretty cool rifle.

And congrats on the purchases, you did good.

Nothing like a good 22 pistol. The problem is I couldn't decide which one I wanted, so I bought a Colt officers target model,Colt woodsmen,Ruger Single Six,and Ruger MK2. All excellent in my mind. As far as rifle go ,well CZ or Anchutz. If you can't decide which one,why pick only one of each. You get what you pay for,buy quality.
