What is the best .22 to buy?

Ruger 1022 would be the one I would recommend 1st but if you can't justify the extra money then a marlin 795 would be what I would buy then. The nice thing with the Ruger is you can shoot it As is or modify it with the huge after market following it has.

I recently bought a basic 10/22 stainless and have dispatched a few critters with it since.
I dont have much to compare it to, other than my sons 597 which he sold and also bought a 10/22.
I dont plan to customize it but the options are certainly out there.
For $269 its worth the extra bucks. IMO

It depends on your budget. If I was to do it again,I would look for a plain 10/22.Then upgrade the barrel to a match shilen or green mountain and an archangel stock. If your lucky someone has one all ready built one and has it for sale. I have almost a grand into mine. The only problem with the ruger is the barrel to action press fit.

i agree with most people i own a ruger and its a project im working on and love it but i also own a marlin that is a tac driver with no work to it and ive shot a couple different 597s and for the right price i would definitely jump on a 597 target they are all good guns comes down to use and preference go handle some if your part of a gun club bring what youve got and a brick of ammo and talk to people and see what they are shooting and if you can handle shoot adn get a feel for some then go with whatever fits right there is no right or wrong answer when you ask whats the best 22 semi

I feel the need to stick up for the mossberg 715t. i recently bought one so i could have the "tactical" looking range toy....lots of people say its junk, and that it constantly jams....I have put nearly 1000 rounds through it...cci, federal, win, blazer, even that those remington golden bullets, and it works flawlessly. The only problem is the 25 round magazines are cheaply made and sometimes the spring sticks at 10 rounds making i difficult to load all 25 (but hey, you do get what you pay for). In my opinion, for plinking at the range Im not willing to spend the money on a 10/22 with an after market stock. Just cant justify the cost for a 22. Thats why I went with the mossberg and I couldnt be happier. But its not as accurate as my old cooey 600...

Ruger 77/22 RP Syntetic / stainless,bolt action,10 rounds mag

Long time lurker, just never post.
I am looking for some advice on a new .22.
I want semi auto with removeable mag (clip) and is reliable, but best bang for my buck. I have passed on a couple cooey model 64's and was thinking of a mossberg, but was told not to, and just spend the extra couple bucks on a 10-22
what say the crowd?
