For a Factory Gun there is F(M) class. "M" being Manufatured with very few mods. Norm B built a F(O) rifle on a Stevens 200, with a heavy barrel and a BR Stock he managed to win the Mons Club Championship and the Fall Palma here in Ontario on back-to-back weekends. Just goes to show the shooter, barrel and ammo have more to do with winning than the action.

In Canada their is no better rifle then the savage in terms of OOB accuracy; for the price point you mentioned. My stock 10 FP in .223 will shoot under 1/2 MOA all day. I have shot lots of back to back 1/4" groups at 100 Yards. This is with handloads and zero mods. I paid 600$ for this rifle

you guys are right, it will be more money and more trouble at the end to take a Stevens and try to mod it. I'll wait a couple of time and get a Savage 12vlp 7" twist and leave it stock...
By the way, do you guys know how long it take to have access to the EE forum? Because I wan to look to buy used guns and I have not access yet...

I had a 700LTR on hold, but when I saw the CZ Varmint Kevlar with the 9" twist and the set trigger the Remmy got dropped, also the CZ has det mag, factory rings and was $200 less than the LTR,
Big bill, don't think we went wrong with the CZ, I sell firearms for a living and CZ's get nothing but kudos fron their owners, can't say the same about Rem, Ruger, Wby or Savage. The only other line that gets rave reviews are the Sako/Tikka, I think the American manufacturers have some serious quality control issues.
Worries
Thing that worries me is that I read complaints that the bolt of the 527 rotates too high. This means that the scope has to be mounted high.
I once had a 56mm objective LE-12 scope that gave me all kinds of problems b/c it was mounted too high off the rifle. It meant that my face could not touch the stock to aim. The scope cost me around $750.00. I could not print a one inch group with that scope, mounted on a custom 308 Sako. Same rifle with a $100.00 Tasco, I got groups that were unbelievable.
I know I could have bought a custom stock for the Sako and fixed the problem, but I did not have the coin at the time. Also, I could not find a strap on cheek piece like that of the M1D. The problem drove me absolutely batty.
Hope the 527 allows me to get a good cheek weld.

I just checked my CZ, I have a vxIII 1.5x5 mounted on it temporarily but the eyepiece is pretty much the same on all leupolds, it's mounted on CZ med rings and there is almost a 1/4 inch clearance when I cycle the bolt and I can get a good cheek weld so I don't think you will have a problem. I am waiting on my VXL 6.5x20x56LR with the varmint ret and the target turrets swapped for normal ones, hopefully wont be much higher.
