What is the best 22wmr semi auto?

I speak from experiance on the 10/22mag , there is a reason they are discontinued . I had a huge thing with 10/22s about 6/7/8 years back(somewhere the start of CGN I beleive ) probley built upwards of 20 regular 10/22s , a couple of 10/22lr-> 22mag conversions and a few of 10/22mags as well . My conversions functioned better than the real deal.
I had both models of the 22mags single and dual extractors, I know the actions like the back of my hand and they did not function all that great . I also found that the barrel Hole was also milled of center on ever one I have owned an played with and the barrel Canted off to one side , witch ment for for heavy windage adjustment. I could make them shoot ,and put a tonne of cash into them and had a great time doing it ............

I love the 10/22 and will buy guns to have a set , but the (2) 22 mag semis that sit in my safe is a target model..................... Remington 597.

No problems what so ever and I have worked the one , and keep the other just to have .

get the 597 mag

That is a nice looking gun, I have a 597 and that Marlin is alot nicer looking gun IMO.
is your 597 the Laminated Heavy barrel Model ?,every one is to there own opinion ,guess it comes down to what shoots better . Never Had a Marlin in a semi so cant speak from experiance , But have had them in a bolt action 22mag and The savage Heavy Barrel out shot it

Should be able to get a Brand new 597 target for under that price ,better gun in my opinion

May very well be, just a few things on that one, checked the scope it was $161 usd in 1983 digest, Japan glass, the MSRP on the Marlin is $441 , same book has the 10/22 MSRP $223 , might be just numbers though, does look like a junker:D ;)
I tried to figure out guns, and its whats popular that gets high dollars, not what goes into making them, material wise.:)

I have the marlin on the camp carbine chassis and it's a beauty for sure, wouldn't let it go for less than $1000 though....

Hk 300, Brno zkm 611, if you like blues steel guns. Had a volquartsen 22mag for a while never a lick of trouble. The magnum research version is junk
