Any opinions on what the best gun out of the box for 800 to 1000 yds. I am leaning towards Remington sendero, but i have read savage makes a decent long range rifle also. Any comments would be appreciated.

how much long range shooting have you done? It's likely that any rifle out of the box will shoot better that far then you can............
What's your budget? and do you reload?

Frankly they wouldnt be on my list, but you have a very vague title there, are you looking for the best, or the best a a certain price point.

I was interested in a 700 but I've heard that the extractor of the Remington 700 is to weak with the magnum cartridges, is that true?

We have a range we shoot out to 800. Been doing this for 3 yrs. Shooting a 300 rem now with rapid Z800. Looking for something to put my Sightron on. H-1000 with 210 bergers, hitting a 18 inch plate at 800. budget 1000 to 1500.

I've heard that too, but never had any fail on my rifles. I wouldn't let that derail a planned purchase, unless what you're shooting at is shooting back.

I won't say "best" as there is no such thing.
There is best value, there is best supported and there is best for the job.
We have sold aa large number of the 700 XCR Tacticals and had really great feedback from clients. In my OPINION the stock on the 5R and Sendero is bulky and not the best suited for fit, the XCR Tactical seems to me to be a better fitting stock.

1 person posted 300 RUM, the problem is that high quality brass is extremely hard to find and that the barrel life is significantly shorter than the 300 Win Mag offers.
Another posted 300Wby, good brass is certainly available, but Wby rifles are not renowned for their accuracy due the the tremendous amount of free bore they employ.

Of the assorted brands Remington wins hands down for upgrade-ability.
As for their extractor, in the 35 years I have been in this industry I think I may have replace 20 of them. They work pretty reliably on the whole.

If you have the means and want to combined a uber hunting rifle to a great shooter, i recomend a Steyr Mannlicher Luxus in 300 mag, with cheap 180 gr power Point Winny it is sub MOA @ 100 metres, did not reload yet for it but should give good performance to 1000 metres and stillf being a 7 pounds hunting rifle... And the single set trigger @ 6 ounces is wonderfull... JP.

I've had really good luck with Savage rifles. The 110 FCP HS, or 110 Ba would get my vote for factory 300 WM. The BA doesn't fit your stated budget but the FCP HS does.
