What is the best 300 mag out of the box gun for long range.

what's come with the 375 H&H kit?

My Steyr Mannlicher Luxus 300 mag is a modular rifle, you can buy 5 others long action kit that include the barrel with piccinity rail, one bolt and one mag, you leave your optics on it, so it is always zero... JP.

Imho I equate rifles to cars, bullets are like gas, stocks are like new body kits, your scope is like your dash with your all of your gauges etc. In this case, I would compare a tikka to something like a BMW (I could be wrong), the reason is yeah, you get performance, but you will also pay a little for the name and the maintenance may prove to be pretty expensive as they aren't that common. Remington's are kinda like honda civics in the tuning world - everyone has one, there are a ton of aftermarket parts, and everyone has worked on them and knows how to fix them (this can be good and bad). I had a Reminton 700 SPS in 7mm REM MAG, and it was purchased used and I did not like it; the bolt was sticky, groups were terrible and I wanted do a lot of stuff to it (also 7mmRM is a big caliber for someone just learning to shoot). So instead of investing time and money, I started over with a savage - it's kinda like a chevy or dodge or something, it's a little more rare than a 700, but they are gaining in popularity and great options are offered out of the box. Truth be told, you will be happy with whatever you get as long as you get new (used can be great deals, but sometimes deals that are to good to be true, usually are - ha ha, i guess same with some cars.). Anyways I would reccomend a savage because the things are (tbh) just awesome. There is a Savage Bear hunter in 300wm, but I bet a Remington Sandero would also be pretty sweet. Anyways that is my opinion on the matter, good luck and happy hunting :) Also sorry about all of the car analogies.

WOW! Very interesting but expensive stuff caramel not for me and my wallet. Nice rifle!!!

DTA SRS in .300 Win Mag gets my vote. 1/2 MOA guarantee which I've shot with hunting ammo. 1/4 MOA or better with reloads. 36 ½ inches with 26 inch barrel and able to change calibers in less than a minute = awesome!

Umm guys the guy stated his budget at 1000 - 1500 so the fancy toys are out. Pretty much leaves remmy, savage or tikka.

I personally think it is pretty hard to beat a good ole remington 700 sendero, 700 5R or even the newer compared to the last 2, the XCR tactical. I really wanted a 5R but when the deal came up i couldn't pass and picked myself up a XCR tactical with an HS precision stock so basically a 5R/sendero with a different finish. Let me tell you the finish is unbelievably durable on these things, i was amazed when i took it moose hunting in the rain, snow, did target shooting in ####ty conditions and where others were getting small nicks, scratches, even surface rust (rain/water while hunting) the blackened stainless trynite coating didn't have a mark on it! the 40x trigger it has is beautiful and the rifle flat out shoots! mine is in a 300. winny though

I am using a sendero sf 2 in 300 win mag and find it works pretty well. Using h1000 powder (which seems hard to come by these days) and berger 210 gr vld's loaded at 3.573 coal. Velocity is close to 2900fps. My rangefinder craps out on me after 750 yards but up to that i usually shoot sub MOA. Had one 3 shot group just under 2" at 600 yards(best). I was able to take a moose this past year at 765 yards. Those 210 bergers are devastating. I am by no means claiming to be an expert just sharing my results. Hope it helps.

Don't forget the tikka tactical in .300. It's a sub moa gun.

Terrible plastic flimsy gun, and way over priced. You can obtain a sub moa rifle wayyy cheaper then a Tikka.... Iv shot this, and my buddy owns it.. belive me, thier really garbage, save ur money

I would go with the dta srs. The magazine system is great for reloading and with factory match ammo you can get close to a .25 Mona group. Plus there customer service is great.

Seeing that you hand load and want a 300 mag, most of the heavy barrel guns out there will do what you want assuming
good barrel length and rate of twist. New is what it is today but I wouldn't discount the used market for a sweet deal.
Some of the older guns can be snagged at good prices if you wait for the opportunity to come by or post a WTB in the EE.
I would look for a Winchester Laredo LRH, Tikka Sporter (wood stock), Tikka Continental or Remington Sendero.
These all came in 300 WM and also some came in 7STW and 7mm RM. If going new then one of the heavy barrel Remington offerings
probably the XCR for it's trimmer stock profile or grab one of the long action Winchester Classics and slap a new barrel on it.
If long range ballistics with tolerable recoil is wanted try to stay with the 7mm's since there are better bullets out there that won't beat you up
with recoil compared to the 30's.
