I think I need a 375 H&H ..what is the recoil like?..seems like it might hurt
Not bad at all, you'll shoot it and go, "That's it?" .375's kick, but it is entirely manageable. You'll just gain a new recoil threshold, and gain perspective. A lot of folks think a .30-06 kicks, but it's really a very, very mild caliber. Practice with the .375, and soon a shooter learns it won't hurt them and they gain a whole new threshold with total comfort shooting .375. If you have some decent rifle experience under your belt, it's a piece of cake, you'll enjoy it.
Whenever men say to me, "I don't want to put up with the recoil, yadda yadda" I explain my 115lb wife shoots it, so can you.

Out of a 10 lb., 1.5x6 scoped, BRNO, ... we shoot stout 270gr. handloads, from a bipod and prone in the snow, out to 400+++ yds, ... and allways with big smiles on.
Just make sure to keep that butt high in the 'pocket', and use a scope with generous eye relief.
The impact on steel is something to see. And finely accurate too.
As said by other posters, the recoil is a long strong push, heavy but not sharp or painfull. Just roll with it, and you'll surely be eager to bolt another round.
Standard BRNO twist is 1 in 12" (afaik, without measuring) shoots very well from 210 to 300 grn's..

Be warned, you need a magnum length action (true magnum, not a standard action sized for .300 Win Mag, 7mm mag, .30-06 etc). Those actions are too short, without pretty serious modification that would cost more than just outright buying a .375. Unless we're talking contenders... But I wouldn't shoot .375 in a contender, horrible stock design.
So true, that's exactly what I said to Bwana Dave the first time I shot his .375 H&H which I then bought.
What action do you have?
Because a 'long' Remington 700 action like for 7mm RemMag or 300 WinMag is long enough to chamber a true magnum-length cartidge like the H&H.
And even if you have a standard '06-length action, it'll handle the .375 Ruger, which doesn't give-up much to the H&H
Hmmm, that'll fit in the footprint of an LA Remmy but I really don't know about the interior size.
You'll have to check the website or maybe ask Alberta Tactical Rifle, I think he sells/sold them.

I wouldn't recommend a .375 H&H in any standard action, it still doesn't really fit even in those it can be squeaked into. You end up with almost zero room to play with, and have to seat deep. This is why many .375 Ruger owners think the .375 Ruger will out run the H&H with 270gr bullets. To get the most out of .375, it should be a magnum action (affordable options include the BRNO 602, CZ550, and Ruger RSM), the 4" mag of my RSM let's me put out unreal velocities at normal pressures.
win 70 in 7mm rem mag...... is my all around fav for BC and the occasional trip to the fields in alberta. our moose camp has 2 30-06 a 338 and me occasionally with my 308 m14s or the 7mm. for the coastal deer, black bears and when ever i'm in the thick stuff, it's my no1mkIII short barrel .303 enfield hands down. The .303 has consistantly put more meat in my freezer by far than my other rifles. and has taken all of my 5 trophy book class deer.... could be my hunting style as i like creepin in where they live, but i sure do love my .303
