What is the best Gun Scabbard mounting system for an ATV?

Like I stated earlier I have used a Koplin gun boot on my Quad for years without any scope problems.Has any one  really had a problem or are the horror stories of the scope being knocked out of kilter coming from someone who just heard this and never really used one. That is what it sounds like to me.

last time i put a rifle in one of those things . i got back to camp and my scope fell off the gun that i borrowed from a bud as a backup gun .

Good thing that you did not try to shoot it.Sounds to me like it was not fastened to the rifle very good.I have seen some rifles dropped harderc than any bump that they would ever get in a scabbard and the scope never fell off.

I had a workmate come to me for help with his rifle. It had been sighted in 3" high at 100 yards before the season began but after a couple of weeks of him riding around on his trike he finally came upon a moose at about 200 yards and missed three consecutive shots. He set up a target only to discover that his point of impact was now about 20" high at 100 yards. He tried to adjust the scope down but ran out of adjustment and was still 5" high.I checked over the scope and mounts and finally discovered that the scope tube was actually bent downward.Upon further investigation,I placed the rifle in his kolpin gun boot only to discover that all of the weight was resting on the scope objective. He had been riding over very rough ground(and in fact had nearly rolled the trike) and with all of the weight on the scope tube, the impacts had very slightly bent the tube. The scope was a bushnell 4200 2.5x10x40 which had to be replaced.

Holy geez supercub, that's wicked, you shoul try to sell the trailer design to the army. I would of loved this set up for mounted OP's or check points and it would cost a lot less then the new mercedes/benz reco jeep or the coyote. Install an amu, a radio rack and brackets to hold a "Nodler" . That set up would be kicking a$$ and taking names :D

The "gun-guard" is the other one I could not remember earlier. So I've used the Koplin, Gun-Guard and Plano boots. The gun-guard is nice and the top is really easy to pull off. There's enough friction to have it stay on without the pin. The storage box in the rack isn't that large but it'll hold extra shells, a small flashlight or other items. It's available at everyone's favorite place to shop, LeBaron's. I think the price is still $48.94 plus tax for the boot and bracket.

The new Plano Gunslinger is $46.72 for the boot and $49.94 for the bracket.

The Koplin boot is $54.36 and the bracket is $43.36.
