I've been trying to figure what the best scope mount is for the M1A Supermatch that I have. I've been using a Smith Enterprises Mount and have had good luck, but I'm wonder what others have been using. I'm considering moving my gun into a SAGE stock.....

thoughts?

You already have the best. Don't switch.

I have a SA Gen 3 mount, but it's waaaay too high. The ARMS 18 is good, but again, if you have the Smith, you've got nowhere to go but down!

The GDI Inc. mount is one of the best. In case you're looking for a Sage stock, I happen to have one. See my signature..

A scout type or intermediate eye relief mount is the best IMHO. Your bolt area is clear for using your stripper clips and there is no metal blocking an ejecting case, plus it's easier to clear a jam. The ring height on your scope mount can be much lower for a quicker sight alignment.

I'm using an Arms 18, on this one, and have experienced no problems.

i'm using a SA Gen 3 mount.. i find the bolts work their way loose very easily. i'm thinking of loc titing them since i think i'm not going to remove it much.

i believe that the proper way to tighten the bolts is with a HAMMER- to seat- i've loctited mine and there's no problem with loosening them- i beleive the hammer thing is discussed right on the springfield site

If you are cheap or strapped for cash, stick with your Norc irons, assuming they work until you can buy a decent mount. (although USGI Garand sights are not cheap, they are a good investment for that...USGI M14 sights are too expensive to most users and you might as well get a good mount)

A cheap, usable mount in my opinion is a solid (steel) scout-type mount.

For receiver mounts, everyone here will agree that ARMS or SMITH are THE way to go.

There have been users of the (Leapers?) ARMS copy which costs similar to a scout mount. Apparently they work very well. The only thing missing is the piece that slots into the stripper clip guide dovetail.

I've seen springfield national match sights on brownells for about 100$ if I remmeber correctly (don't quote me on it). Are they any good?
