Why bother with dusty and messy corncob?
 
Just Received a Thumler Tumbler for Christmas and threw some 308 and 223 in the tub with 1 gallon of water, a few lbs of stainless media, some dishwashing soap and lemi shine, from CanTire, 1 short hour, thats it, and the brass came out just like new, prmer pockets were clean, inside the casing was spotless and outside was brilliant. Rinse it dry it and thats it. Will never go back to any dry media ever, Stainless will outlast me, and the brass comes cleaner in much shorter timer. The way to go for sure. You can order these in Canada for around 175 w/ free shipping. Outstanding.

Where did you source the ss pins and tumbler in Canada?
 
I'm regretting getting the CV-2001. I was happy with the cases but not impressed, like I am with the stainless.

I guess I'll have to order the stainless setup and sell the cv-2001.
 
I thought people went to a vibratory tumbler to avoid dish soap and water in their cases. ;)

I'm very impressed with the cleaning ability of stainless media. It looks awesome. I have washed cases by hand and depending on the humidity, time of year, whether the heating is on etc, I generally found that using a hair dryer was necessary to ensure no trapped water.

Also I like to quickly tumble, primers in place, before I size, this would make water removal more problematic.

Again very impressed with those case necks and primer pockets.

Water is easy to deal with as far as I'm concerned. Rinse the cases out with as hot as water as possible so they evaporate dry. We usually process our cases weeks before we load the ammunition so it would be pretty easy to ensure ours was properly dried.

I'm far more impressed with the cleaning ability of the stainless as displayed, where as the vibratory with the standard medias leaves too much residue on the cases for my taste.

I'm looking forward to trying the stainless media.

Actually, I wonder if I could use my cement mixer as a brass cleaner with stainless pins... It certainly has the weight rating!
 
I've hear of one guy that put's his just rinsed case's into 95% rubbing alcohol, wish'em around a bit then set's them to dry.
It evaporate's quicker then just water.
 
The one thing nobody here has mentioned is volume.

If you have over 25,000 cases that need cleaning, having the ability to do a lot of cases at a time is very important.

Thats the only reason I stuck with my big freaking vibratory tumbler, it can do close to 2000 pistol brass, or 1000 rifle brass in one cycle without breaking a sweat, and I am not sure if the stainless media can keep up.

What kind of volume can you get with stainless media?

I can clean 400 223 rem with my rotary tumbler.
 
I do batches of around 300 308 Win. cases at a time with the SS media. They only need to be tumbled for about an hour. Throughput is not a problem, especially if you're using the separator.
 
So I just tried out my new Thumler (high speed) tumbler with the SS pins. Tumbled 50 44mag which is usually the dirtiest I have. Tumbled for 2 hours and they came out great. Not the hi lustre shine I get from the vibrator but spotless inside and out including the primer pockets. Bought the RCBS media seperator, works good to. If I had the time I would build a seperator. Little bit of messing around rinsing everything but I have a big square sink in the laundry room which works great. Major upgrade IMHO. Anybody want a Lyman 1200 with autoflow?;)

canadian treasure seekers for the thumler tumbler, free shipping, buy the media elsewhere, there's is too expensive. Use a vegetable strainer that I swiped from the kitchen for straining...did have to drill larger holes.
