What is the best polymer handgun?

I like the XD...but i also own a glock, an SR9 and a M&P. I shoot any of them about the same, but like the slim feel of the SR. I've shot most of the polymers and there are no real dogs. Well, a friend had a FMK that would not reliably go bang, but i believe that was eventually fixed under warranty. Find what fits and use it till it's second nature. 20 years ago i couldn't stand the feel of double stack pistols, and the glock felt like a block...now i find it very comfortable..but i've made it my mission to shoot a different pistol every few weeks for the last 20 years or so....

I have 4 Glocks G17/ G17L /G21 /G22 all with the spring and connector 3.5 pounds in....
I have 2 Steyrs one L9 and one M40...
And i have one FNX 45 TAC...
The FNX is the one i use the more because it's simply a superior handgun on all aspects, the Steyrs i use the often because the triggers is way better and accuracy is stellar...
The Glocks are in the safe and i seldom use them, ( i shoot them good but there is just not pleasure doing so, it's a very dull handgun ), i dont sell them because they are paid for and no way i will take a shower on them by selling them, id'e rather give them away in my will... JP.

For simplicity and durability Glock hands down in the striker category.
For TDA I'd say HK has that category covered.

Just putting this out there......I seen a guy clean up a 3 gun match with a Tokarev last year. Its not always about the gun. LOL.

Mechanically the newer gen HK ( USP, p2000 , p30) pistols are probably the top, followed by the original glock 17.

US design wise, SW M&P is fine too, but that idiotic leveller that needs to be flipped and the whole magazine disconnecting feature are making the pistol more complicated than needed.

Far too suggestive. One person might love a certain gun and another person will think it sucks and both meaning it honestly. You need to research things, go handle all you are interested in and decide for yourself ! IMHO

Buy one without the mag safety and strip it like a Glock?

Wait..what..uh-oh. My M&P 40 is my favourite pistol for fun factor and ergos, and shoots like a laser beam with the Apex trigger kit. I want a USP 40 very badly to go with it. I only have 9mm's for the cheaper ammo. Let's hear this logical argument.

The argument - originally put forward by James Yeager (so consider the source, but it's an interesting argument anyway) is that 40 is a compromise calibre -a little larger than 9mm with not quite the power of 45 acp. So essentially it's a compromise - what kind of guy compromises?

For Canada Glock still wins as its cheaper then a HK and parts are everywhere for it.

I've got STI 1911's, a CZ SP01 Shadow, and a few Glocks (17, 17L, 34), but I've really come to prefer shooting my Grand Power X-Calibur. The grip fits my hand perfectly and after I put some skateboard tape on it, it feels really locked in to my hands. It's a rotating barrel lockup design too, so you don't have that tilted barrel as you did in your Glock. I love the stock fibre optic front, fully adjustable Eliason rear sights, and the design gives it a very low recoil pulse, and it's very accurate (3"groups @ 25m if I do my part well). The Shadow trigger is a little crisper break, but it's really smooth and light in DA and pretty damned good in SA. After one range session I quickly decided I would be using the X-Calibur for IPSC. Been through 5 qualifiers so far and having a lot of fun with this gun. I ended up buying another X-Calibur as my backup gun, and a .22 caliber version for some cheap practice. Looks like mags and spare parts are starting to arrive in Canada!

Here's a video from my last qualifier. The gun shoots great, I need to work on moving faster lol

Where have you seen mags and parts? I'm sure there's a few of us that would like to know! I'm very happy with my K100. Just a little nervous about support in case something goes wrong.

NAS Guns And Ammo had a notice on their FB page:

We will be receiving our orders of 9mm and 22lr Grand Power magazines next week. Limited quantities available. If you would like to reserve yours please email sales@nasgunsandammo.com

These magazines are as priceless as gold right now. However, our prices are not. Grab yours before they are gone!

* 9mm - $56.99
* 22lr - $25.99

I asked and apparently there's some spare parts coming in with the same shipment.

I like Glock.

Glock, Model 22, 2nd gen would be my "go-to" in a SHTF scenario.

I've shot thousands of rounds thru Glocks.

Interestingly enough, I spent Sunday afternoon shooting several polymer guns. An M&P9, G17, G22, P2000 (.40cal), and a Grand Power. There was a strong crosswind blowing from right to left and all guns printed left of aim, with the 9s affected the most. Anyhow, the most accurate guns of the day were the Glocks. The gun with the least amount of perceived recoil was the Grand Power, the most comfortable in the hand was the Grand Power, the least accurate for the day was also the Grand Power! However, to be fair I haven't looked for a favourite load for it, and was using my current default load of a 124 grain plated bullet and 5.6 grains of Power Pistol. The M&P was very controllable, and easy to get back on target. The H&K has a very good trigger, but because it is a relatively small .40, it is quite snappy. The Grand Power also has an excellent trigger; very smooth, consistent and crisp. And the reset is both audible and very short.

ETA: oh, and I should mention...a 9mm without hearing protection...is loud...freaking loud and sharp. Yes, I changed targets, charged up a few mags, forgot to move my muffs back to my ears from the top of my head and touched one off. My ears were ringing for a bit.
