Lots and lots and lots of oil.
What have 100,s of items mil spec phosphated each month.
Once finished they sit in a bath of oil for 24hrs. Before we do anything. With them
Then we leave them out. In the shop for another 24hrs.
They go from dripping wet to almost dry to the touch.
We then hose them down again. Wait another 24hrs then package them for resale.
Like I say , lots of oil!!

Oil works, and it's certainly more convenient to apply, but you have to replace it constantly, especially if the gun gets hot.
Heavy grease stays put and seems to protect against scuffing and scratching much better, though oiled Parkerizing is much better than dry in that regard.

I do my own parkerizing and I've tried a bunch of things. I've kinda settled on Rem oil and bearing grease. Right after they come out of the park tank hot and rinsed, I dry with compressed air then soak with Rem oil. Let the rem oil dry over night and soak in. Then rub in grease and let sit another day or two. After that maintain with more rem oil when the gun gets cleaned. I use mobil 1 synthetic grease (because that's what I have around anyways for vehicles) and it works well because it does not have moly or lithium in it to change the colour.
Truthfully, it really does not matter. Anything oily/greasy/waxy that prevents corrosion works just fine.

the simplest way to think of parkerizing is to treat it like cast iron. Just don't ever de-grease it with strong solvents etc. Always keep wiping something oily on it. It really doesn't matter what. I sure as heck would not go buy grease just for this. It's very easy to over think this too.... it's not a critical issue. I've used kroil, PB blaster, 3 in 1 oil, fluid film, various CLP products, synthetic gun oil, paste wax, etc etc... heck Vaseline would work fine. Just don't use KY and you should be A-OK
