what is the best value 9mm pistol out there?

Norinco NP22. Looks like a Sig, shoots like a Sig and costs 1/3 of a Sig.

^^^ this...inclined to agree...probably the sweetest shooting Norinco product out there...was pretty impressed by mine...loved it so much I bought the real thing...that said some of the 9mm 1911's represent great value....finally a 6-700$ Cz also represents fantastic value...great pistols, beautifully built and made to last...jmho

since OP is asking for best value, not cheapest in price, I would say MP40 range kit with 9mm conversion barrel. one gun with 2 calibers. It comes with 3 mags, along with a speedloader which is very useful. down the road, you could also upgrade the trigger to Apex which makes it competition ready.

of course, if OP will not play 40 for sure, just go for the MP9 range kit.

fairly open ended question. when you make your suggestion, please explain why you feel it has best value.

Glock. Parts availability right down to the channel liner. Customization options are endless. If you buy the gen 3, you can change the slide and/or frame courtesy of lonewolf. Simplicity and ease of maintenance - hands down the most simple and ridiculously easiest to strip gun that I've ever owned. Just as accurate as any combat handgun out there, and just as reliable, if not more reliable/dependable.

I was going to agree with the FNS 9l, a great pistol with three mags and extra back strap. Accurate!! Great sights and short reset trigger, but I did love the Norc SIG clones...get both and sell the one you don't like.

Bersa Thunder 9 Pro. DA/SA trigger similar to the CZ, good ergos, compatible with Sig sights so finding some you like is easy, all for $200 less than a CZ75.

30 years ago? Browning High Power. I got mine 31 years ago, haven't had to replace a single part on it yet (I'm going to replace the barrel soon). roughly 3000 rounds down the pipe and today I shot 9 out of 10 shots in the 10 ring at 25m with it. No I don't usually have that good a day but clearly this gun can do it when I am up to it. I also got the Pachmyr 22 lr kit for it, which has seen a few 1000 rounds down the pipe as well and is still going great. Was it cheap like a Norinco? Nope. But how many Norincos would I have had to buy to do this much shooting over such a long time?

Today? Glock 17 and get the Advantage Arms 22 lr kit for it as well.

If you want value, nothing beats the ability to shoot 22 lr using the same grip, sight style, trigger etc...

SIG P-226 or P-229, as they are well built, easy to shoot, come apart for cleaning very quickly and best of all, have numerous calibre changes on one frame. Can be a .22 or a 9mm or a 40 S&W or a 357 SIG, all on one frame with different frames and /or barrels.

my buddy in the US has a High Power as his CCW. says every other 9mm out there is just a wannabe High Power. LOL!

and I have seriously been considering the CZ 75 SP-01.

Well if you move into the new Glock prices, you may as well throw the HK SFP9 and Walther PPQ in there as well. Both excellent pistols, but the HK being my personal favorite at present.
