After shooting a FN FS9L, I have to say for the price it's an excellent pistol. Completely ambi and the trigger isn't bad.

Just try a CZ before you buy and you won't have to ponder any longer
There's a few to choose from, value for money would include accessories and a reputable name imho. However I have been really pleased with the Girsan Regard. Shoots well, egos are pretty good, good price and two mags, but that's it.
Yep. My wife took her Black Badge with a Ruger SR9. Nice gun, shoots and handles well with ambi controls, important for a southpaw. Then I let her shoot one of my .45 1911's - now she owns three of those!
A friend gave her a tutorial on his CZ Shadow and now she has one of those and the SR9 is on the block. I do like the Shadow, even tho' I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Browning Hi-Power fan thanks to the Army and years of IPSC shooting with a pair of them. Pains me to admit that I think the Shadow is a superior gun.
I just ordered my first pistol, after a lot of research I chose the CZ 75 SP-01. It should be here by Friday can't wait to get it out to the range!
Girsan's Beretta clones are good value. So are the SAMs for 1911s.
For $500, you can't beat the Girsan Regard MC 9mm Pistol, Black, 4.9" Barrel, 2 x 10 Round mags.
Quite a few steps up from a Norc, and a couple down from an original Beretta.
Well made, good quality for the price.
Another vote for the Girsan Yavuz Compact, if there is such a thing, it's a better Beretta 92. The grip is much better than the 92, with all the other bits pure 92 at a very affordable price.
I am new to guns...What about the Girsan Yavuz 16? it looks and it is made like a Beretta 92FS for a much lower price. I would appreciate some feedback as I am planning to purchase one.
I find the Girsan Yavuz (beretta clone) to be a great value.
