Looking to buy a handgun that is reliable and accurate to use for IPSC and PPC. Price has to be reasonable also.
Also what do you need for Cowboy action competitions?

Reliable and accurate enough would be a Glock 17 (9mm). Perfect for IPSC, not sure about PPC.

Check out the Eastern Ontario Handgun Club's website. It has all the information your looking for.

Lots of used ipsc guns out there. Of course you need to decide if you will shoot production, standard or open. I know nothing about PPC

Reasonable price? Depends on whether or not you purchase used: I couldn't be happier with my USP9, but it's almost a guarantee that any gun you purchase will outshoot you, so pick the one you're most comfortable with.

PPC guns are usually somthing like a S&W 10,14,17, 581 ,586, 686 ect. are most common. They can be used stock but often have a ribbed barrel, barrel weight, trigger job, chamfered cylinder, aftermarket grips and just about any other MOD that you could think of to abit of an extra edge.

Enjoy !

The best gun is the gun that fits you well, one that you can aim well and one that you feel comfortable with. Having a $3000 racegun that for any reason feels awkward in your hands, preventing you from instilling confidence, is about as useful as a paper weight.

Go to your range and/or shop, find something that you feel comfortable holding. Aim it naturally(in a safe direction!)...ie look at a point, bring the gun straight up to your eye lines. Try open eyes, try non dominant eye closed.

These are all factors that will aid you to find something that works for you.

second! I felt p226 does not well fit my hand compared to glock17,although sigp226 is more expensive than glock17.

The mix of IPSC and PPC makes it a little tougher. Since PPC involves in part shooting tiny groups at 50 yards, to do that well the dedicated/good shooters have guns just for PPC. Not that you can't use the same gun for both at a basic level, but I wouldn't consider the two disciplines truly equal in requirements for guns.

do u really want the best...? go for WilsonCombat,LesBaer,Nighthawk,Ed Brown custom 1911:D

Not the best for IPSC, certainly... and that is what he asked.

PPC? A 38 revolver with an anvil welded to the front, as near as I can tell.

In neither case is it a $2500 1911.

FOr PPC or IPSC... get the Glock..you can shoot production and duty gun sections. Plus its simple. Its cheap. It has good resale.

Personally after having tried PPC a few times, its abit dull. You might like it, I dunno. Either way with the Glock its useable and cheap.

Avoid any high priced 1911s for what you want. They arent useable in Duty gun for PPC I think.
