hey yall , was wondering if anyone has Tikka .270 win and what is the biggest game it can hunt in the 200-300 yards range?

at our hunting camp, there's 4 out of 10 hunters who have regularly dropped moose on hydro cuts and across swamps out to 250 yds using
.270win (150gr. Psp) in various makes of rifle. Don't let anyone tell you .270 win won't get the job done.

you’d probably do better in the hunting rifle forum, rather than the shotgun forum.

bullet choice and shot placement are important. With the right setup you should be fine for everything up to moose at reasonable distances.

moose and elk yes. Cape buffalo no.

thank you all

Elk, moose. It has hunted everything in North America and lots of stuff abroad.
Folks are loading that 165 gr. Accubond(loaded in the 6.8 Western) with the .620 BC in .270 Wins with a 1-10" twist and getting good accuracy. That will tip over an Elk, moose for sure.

Have watched a buddy flatten a black bear with his .270, another hunts elk with it. It should kill pretty much any large animal in Canada that doesn’t have minimum caliber restrictions in place.

The 270 was considered to be a Big Gun before the Internet when Grizzly and Moose Tags were over the counter.

Bullet construction!

You’ll be more than capable of taking any ungulate in North America.

Put a monolithic 130gr. bullet in the case and quit worrying.

Can’t get a 130 to shoot in your rifle, look towards a premium 150gr. bullet like a Nosler Partition or Accubond.

A .270 rates far more highly as a Grizzly hunting gun than a .450 Marlin or hot .45-70, to put it plainly. It’s a fantastic cartridge.

really , No , not all of us are that naive
No matter your occupation
