I know of a pre 64 model 70 270 WCF that has likely taken more Grizzlies than any other rifle in this country. Someday I’ll contact its current owner and photograph it for you.

Yes, it was his only rifle.
A .270 rates far more highly as a Grizzly hunting gun than a .450 Marlin or hot .45-70, to put it plainly. It’s a fantastic cartridge.

"Hard Cast" is one of the biggest pieces of misinformation passed around in the shooting/hunting world.
Every military figured out the 2200fps+ velocity secret and what it changed in terminal ballistics by WWI. It still eludes many a sportsman however.
There’s nothing wrong with enjoying a soft recoiling big bore that does little meat damage. The misunderstanding starts when people think slow moving 400 and 500 grain bullets represent a “big gun”. Or that it represent more in terminal ballistics than a .270. It doesn’t, even if awkward to accept.
There’s a reason slow rounds do so little meat damage.
Fully agree.
Ok , then when you contact him and get the " story" come back and tell us
someday and send pics like you said
there's a reason for a min cal in some countries , and the 270 is not close to acceptance
It's called penetration
I do agree the diff between shock and hole thru

Show me a country that allows .45-70 for moose and not .270.And have a look at the penetration of a 150 grain .270.
It’s not shock, it’s tissue damage, shock (nervous system) is an entirely different effect. Shoot several hundred things with different chamberings and you’ll note an undeniable trend; speed kills, more speedily. Doesn’t have to be Weatherby speed, just modern speed, 2500fps+ at the muzzle. More just carries the effect further.
a 270 win isn't even comparable to a 45-70.. a mono 135gr at 3000fps would be my pick over any 45-70 load.
well you're wrong and hopefully you know it spewing your extensive / illustrious career
does speed kill or big hole , make up your damn mind
AND what is needed in Africa again .. I forget
