I just got my PAL this year so I am pretty new to the used gun market.

But I have seen some prices which i find quite absurd.

People are asking for almost new prices for used guns...

I just bought myself an a400 xtreme plus and I am looking to get my hand on a Benelli inertia or another a400 for a friend.

I mean some SBE2 are selling for more than SBE3 and some a400 xtreme are more expensive than a400 xtreme plus?

What gives? Anyone with more experience can explain to me how the used gun market works?

This is nothing new to be honest, start going to gun shows and you’ll have some sticker shock lol.

The prices on new guns are at an all time high so it seems worse on the used market sometimes, I have noticed prices correcting themselves a bit. I guess nobody is biting and people are looking to free up some cash for necessities, if you’re not in a hurry prices should continue to drop.

Supply and demand contributes greatly to the pre-owned firearms market, I agree, some asking prices are absolutely ridiculous.

In saying that, guns that are hard to find or obtain will undoubtedly be more expensive.

Scalpers are definitely a concern as well. As is one cannot FIX STUPID.

Good luck with your quest, Gun-post is another sight to check, although this sight is extremly expensive on some items. Town-post is another location a person can look.....:)

Looking at the used market the pricing is high the number of guns selling is low
The new terms on EE and other sites is
Make an offer !
Price drop !
Last price drop !
Need gone !
And so on the market is very soft gun shows do not reflect accurate pricing 80% of the tables are want to be gun dealers that don’t even have the knowledge to judge condition correctly or even get specifics correct
Just shoot around buy the gun you want when u find it at a reasonable price and that it’s
A few exceptions non production guns 94’s wins
336 marlins
And a few others
The shotgun used market is in the toilet

I would think quality guns do not depreciate, and in fact some gain value. The fact that you are finding used guns priced near new is probably a reflection on the actual value of the gun not the sellers greed.

If the gun is in excellent condition consider the fact you may be able to get it tax free a win.

Its not just firearms its optics as well old used versions are now some how worth more then a brand new scope ....My favorite is "like new" but with some damage lol.....sign of the times I suppose.

One good thing 'bout the used gun market, is that buying is strictly optional.

Only the used market is optional ? Interesting. Can’t say I’ve ever been forced to walk out of a gun shop with a new firearm.
Must be where you live.

Either way. It’s optional always. Wait for sales etc etc.
used market is all about haggling imo. If you don’t make a deal you don’t make a deal simple as that. Move on.

The used gun market isn’t like the used car market. It doesn’t matter if it’s an older model or how many years old it is. Price is dictated by condition and most people these days take pretty good care of their guns. The only time you will find used guns significantly cheaper than new is if they are rusty, scratched or damaged. Value can actually go up if it gets discontinued and there are still people out there who want one. Or in the case of military surplus. They hit the market cheap but they don’t make them anymore. Once they are gone, prices start going up because there will still be people who want one

Things are a little wonky right now and you'll always be able to find stupid pricing on the EE, but in general, used prices do reflect the new market. When you factor in taxes and the extras that are often included (mags, rails, rings etc), used guns can still offer good value.

Something to consider - every other facet of life has become way more expensive in the last few years. Mortgage/rent, groceries, gas. Wages haven't come up and most businesses are very slow. Folks are unwilling to sell their guns at a steep loss, and many, many more are unable to really afford this hobby right now. The market is frozen. Sign of the times.
