What Is The Epidemy Of Cheap Bulk Ammo?

Hey all.

What is the cheapest bulk .22 ammo going? When I say cheap and bulk, what comes to mind?

This may not be the year of cheap bulk ammo. Over the past few months I have noticed stocks go down and prices go up, with the exception of a few sales, when checking site sponsors. Federal black and blue packs/boxes are getting rarer as are the bulk CCI. I would hope for Christmas sales like the one a few years ago when I got cheap black box federal and a rebate for about 4 cents a round before tax. You can’t sell what you don’t have and our friends down south where a lot of the bulk stuff is made found that out a few months ago. If you are ON still shipping is not too bad if SFRC has one of their nice sales and Bullseye in London is often decent as well. There are always the big outdoor stores that I managed to score Federal white box 50/$2.50 in the summer you just have to check around on a regular basis and realize that cheap has become more expensive lol!

Epitome, is the word you were looking for I think. As in 'the best that can be found'.

Watch for the sales every spring in Gopher country and load up on what you can get lots of, for cheapest.

When I was up in Cold lake, a nice Saturday drive was to do a loop through all the local gun and sporting goods places, IIRC, there was a pawn shop in Ardmore, Sylvester Sports at Bonnyville, a place at Francherre, and the shop in St Paul.
The place in St Paul used to bring in pallet lots of about four or five different .22 ammos, and sold it cheap every spring. Some of the Co-Op's did too, but they seldom had whole pallets of brick ammo available.
On a day with time on our hands, a run down to Lloydminster to visit the places there was good to kill the day.

Have shot thousands of CCI Blazers, Winchester Wildcats, and whatever other ammo I could get for (usually) under $25 a brick of 500.

Epidemy means an epidemic disease. We are all familiar with one of these -- Covid-19.

"When I say cheap and bulk, what comes to mind?" Price rules. Accuracy is completely unimportant.

Out East here the Herters .22 is only $25.99/500 (at BassPro - I checked and Cabelas is $29.99) and is fairly accurate for bulk. And it works OK in my Marlin-60, Savage-64 and even in my B22 Savage. It's only 36g HP and rates at around 1280 fps, but still fairly OK. However, my LGS here sells Fed Champion SV for $3/50 and its more accurate for targets.

Cheap/bulk=Winchester White box. I think I've only ever bought 2 boxes of it (smallest box you can buy). First one lasted about 5 years, second one has been in the lock box over a year. Have it to confirm that every I own or try doesn't like it. Talking accuracy. I was a bit surprised when my 452 Varmint did OK with it. Not enough to buy more though.

Do your math....
0.045¢ per round is a good buy.
Tenda Canada had a promo sale on FEDERAL BLACK PAC
4800 @ $219.00
All in even with flat rate shipping was 0.052¢ per round.

Hope for a Christmas sale again.

It's not CCI ammo but I found it okay for plink'n with the rifles.
