Something like a CZ75 or a 1911.

I know the recoil and main springs are not too bad to change (and magazine springs as well).

I assume the barrel would be the first substantial part to wear out, and these are easily replaced as well.

When does wear get to the point thtat it is not worth fixing? Does the slide or frame wear out?

Just wondering what to expect over the next year or two when round count breaks 10,000....... 20,000.

on a 1911, the recoil spring is essentially a consumable- some say 1000 rounds, some say 5000, some say when it goes limp. frame and slide battering may result in a crack but that should not normally occur until a very high round count is reached (over 100,000? 500,000? don't treally know) it depends what loads you're shooting and can be prevented with plastic shok-buffs. barrels seem to last a long time- I have around 50,000 in mine with no wear that I can see. I would check the link pins periodically.
