I am curious if any one has seen a 30 cal. bullet with a coefficient higher than .7 ? I suppose the weight would have to be above 220gr.? I heard that Dale Janzen (chinchaga bullets) has an Aluminum tipped bullet that really extends the B.C., But I donot know what the B.C. is.
Let me know whats out there guys, have fun and straight shootin!

240gr Sierra MK is the highest BC printed.

Not sure on the other boutique bullets.

Applied Ballistics 2nd edition will be arriving shortly and we should have some data for some of the other bullets.

I have my copy at home, I will look it up tonite. (Jerry, sorry I forgot you imported these, I got mine direct this time)

There are some lathe turned solid bullets that have a much higher BC than any conventional bullet. I can't recall the name of the manufacture, and they are not in Bryan's book. They are very long, require a fast twist barrel and are difficult to get...

hello Max Owner! good to hear from you! whats new on the shooting front? I havent been able to get out to the "launch pad" recently. I have been working 7 days a week for two weeks now! still have a week to go at least! I am getting jittery! I need to burn some powder! I have 4 loads (in 300win.Mag), and 3 in my .308. I need to confirm at 100. Then I can start calibrating my 300win.Mag.out to 1760yds. I am very stoked to try it! Hopefully I have good weather to shoot in when I get my chance!

Hello Jerry! Do you think the 240Sierra Match Kings are worth a test in my 300win? They must be real slow! I am shooting a 1in10" twist Savage 110BA.
Hey, thanks you guys for your response to the thread!
Man! I can hardly wait to go shooting! Take care and straight shootin!

The 240 SMK is a "specialty" long range bullet. You should call them and at least write Sierra bullets. I've sent them a couple of e-mails and they're very professionnal.

The Sierra 240 Matchking is an idea that mostly didn't work out very well. Even though it is a huge bullet, it's relative ballistic performance is at best middling.

Kinda waiting for the snow to melt and things to dry out. Hoping to get a rack/stand made up for the gongs that I have.

I think you would be disappointed. The 1:10 isn't a fast enough twist to stabilize the long 240s, Sierra recommends a 1:8. A 210 MK, Berger, or Matrix would prove better in your 1:10 barrel, and all have a higher G7 (about .67) than the 240 MK.

I have a 300WSM with 1:10 twist.
The Sierra 210 HPBT MK has a posted bc of .645.
@2800 fps this more than meets my needs. I think I would be hard pressed to stabalize anything heavier than that, or get enough speed to make it worth while.

If the throat is long enough, sure why not. I launched them out of a RUM with a 10 twist and had no issues with stability.

Consistency was a different animal and QC of the Sierras were far from exciting. Over 6yrs ago so much could have changed.

They sure hit hard if you can get them dialed in.

For most LR shooting, I really dont think I would bother with anything beyond the 208/225gr VLD's we have today in a 300WM.

Unless you go larger case, longer barrel, you will not see much improvement in ballistics.

Hrn has new 208 and 225 BTHP that would certainly be more inline with the case volume and should shoot very well. The 208gr AMax is a known flyer as is the 210gr Berger VLD.

Thanks to Uncle Sam, I expect to see a bunch of nice heavy low drag 30cal bullets suited to the 300WM being announced. I really don't think the Hrn bullets were made by coincidence.

My LR BR Remington 700 300Win. 1-8" twist long throated chamber shoots the 240gr. SMK very well indeed. Even with the weight of 18 pounds the recoil still gets your attention!
Works extremely well out to 1000yds.
