What Is The Hole For?

Norinco SKS.

On the bottom of the extreme left rear corner of the receiver is an 11/64" hole.

Any idea of the purpose?

Crappy cell phone pic. The hole is elliptical with the major axis almost parallel to the receiver.

7/32"x11/64" (M x m) is my best guess.

For removing the pin from the cover take down lever

No idea, at first I thought it was a pressure release hole from the chamber, then looking twice... it just looks like a nice hole to put something in and ask questions.

Installing it is easy from the top, but to remove it you need the hole for it to drop through.
