What is the most accurate 22lr?

"if you want to go long range forget subsonic or standard velocity and stick with stuff over 1200 fps" Hogwash!!! Stick with subsonic ammo then you don't have to worry about the bullet entering the trans sonic zone ( this is when the bullet slows down from super sonic to sub sonic, the bullet will become unstable and move all around until it is subsonic) Shoot subsonic ammo and the bullet will fly true.

Very true but you had better have lots of adjustment in your scope and lots of cant on your base to get anywhere near point of aim using subsonic at long range. It drops about 100" at 250yds compared to 80" for SV.

I had a couple suggestions until you said "under $1000" and "100 round drum"... now I've got nothing for you.

For a well under $ 1000.00 SN 522 with a good scope and ammo and a little home improvement becomes a very accurate rifle . Some have done the 1/2 in challenge . Just my 2 cents ..

What about the 100 round drum?

Lol damn! Under a 1000. I was thinking bolt action was more accurate. I guess building a 10/22 from scratch is good. I want something with a 100 round drum or something!

Youve specd out a fun fun, not an accurate one, but that all depends on what you mean by accurate.

Have a look a Dlask DAR22. They are accurate and you can use any 1022 accessories. But for accuracy ammo type is what will make difference. You may have to buy more expensive ammo to get results wanted.

'Accuracy' for WHAT? Long range bench rest target shooting under controlled conditions or a 'carry rifle' for off hand shooting the head off a grouse or a squirrel? The most 'accurate' rifle in the world won't help if you don't hold it straight...

Sorry I guess I'm new to this so my questions are pretty vauge

When you asked for the most accurate 22lr, and you didn't specify a budget, it became obvious that either you are very wealthy, or that your knowledge of firearms is very limited.

Your following posts clarified things.:)

A short and fat barrel will be more rigid, and therefore more consistently accurate, than a long skinny barrel. 16" is all you really need for a .22 with a scope.

Short, fat barrels don't always make for the most consistently accuracy. There are reasons why BR rimfire shooters use relatively long-barrel rifles.

"What is the most accurate .22LR" for long range accuracy? Despite wishful thinking, it's likely not a semi-auto with a drum magazine. Just about any .22LR rig that can shoot MOA at 100 yards isn't inexpensive and will use standard velocity match ammo (bulk will not do the trick).
