Sig 210 has been the benchmark for commercial/service handgun accuracy for ever (excluding speciality target pistols and .22 pistols). The problem is that P 210 is now a days, a rare collectable item.

Just wondering if any of the in-production pistols in today's market can come close to P 210's reputation for accuracy.

Happy Canada Day.

Let's leave discontinued guns out of this thread and concentrate on the guns that are In-Production. P 210 was given as a benchmark to compare modern handguns to.

Also, no revolvers for now. maybe another thread.

Kimber makes quality 1911's out of the box. Barrels, barrel bushings, chambers and triggers are all machined to match grade dimensions. Ejection ports are lowered and flared. This is the standard on all Kimber models. Plus they are very affordable compared to some of the other high end 1911's out there...

My Ruger Mk III is one of the easiest to shoot accurately.
Hitting gongs at 100 yds regularily standing free hand and I don't spend muct time with pistols.

I think that you need to specify the caliber and the price range. I have never fired one, but I would imagine that S&W performance center firearms are pretty accurate. Also, it seems that people do all kind of crazy things to customize their 1911's to improve accuracy. As far as my experience goes...I did quite well with Sig 226, but not as good as with S&W 4506. My most horrible results were with Glock 17. I had to sell it. Maybe me and the gun were just not a good match.

There are a bunch of contenders out there. I know that my Python, P7's and Mark 23 are extremely accurate but my Sig 220 Match advertises 8 rounds of .45 into .64" at 20 yds. That should qualify in the top 5 anyway.

The most accurate pistol I have shot to this point is a Sig X5; I wish I had the cash to buy one myself. I have had good luck with the x5 owner's Colt 1911 also, next up is the CZ SP01 Shadow. There may be others out there more accurate (almost guarantee there are), but these ones shot well for me; I shot the Shaow well enough that I have one on its way here.

Modern production? Well the P210 was in production until 2006 I believe....

After that the P226 X-Five or X-Six are pretty accurate. Sub 1" guarantee. Some of those custom 1911's are pretty accurate too.
