I went from shooting a G22 and G35 in standard, to an STI Edge in standard, and ultimately to shooting a Para LDA in Production. The Glock is a very easy gun to shoot and maintain for a beginner, but you need to learn the trigger, and always get the grip "just right" (high up into the beavertail) in order not to get a high torque flip during recoil.
The STI Edge was an awesome firearm, easy to control and simple to maintain and customize to your needs. But it is a high dollar item, and will not compensate for someone who does not know how to shoot. It simply makes a good shooter that much better.
The Para LDA was the easiest transition of all firearms so far. When you come from a Glock trigger, the Para LDA is a breeeze to get used to (would not be the case if had never fired a Glock before due to its long reset). It has the weight benefit over the Glock, plus the mags are much easier to seat during reloads, and maintain overall. Plus the grip of a 1911/2011 just feels "right".
For these reasons I prefer the Para LDA.
