SKS
SVT-40
Mosin Nagant

For me personally I like the look and the way it shoots the svt-40. But lately I am into mosin nagants. I have enjoyed putting scopes and muzzle brakes and triggers on them. The svt-40 comes from the factory with everything.

Not sure but I think the mosin is in style right now I own 6, and I am
Having lots of fun with them.

I'd say it's probably SKS 1st, Mosin 2nd, SVT 3rd, simply do to the cost and availability of ammo and the guns themselves. In my personal opinion, I think I liked them all equally for different reasons, and I need to pick up a couple more of each.

I like my Mosin sniper best, quite accurate for me since I put a new trigger in, and then my SKS's. Don't own a SVT, doesn't appeal to me.

I'd have to rank them (in order of popularity only. Nothing to do with reliability, value, or anything else): SKS, MN, SVT

Everyone should own an SKS, Russian or otherwise, but that said, the bonus of shooting Russian is that the whole collection shoots the same X54R ammo. Mosin 91/30, M38, M44, and SVT.

I have a couple of each of the big 3. I think the svt is the most fun to shoot. Mag dump of 54r as fast as I can pull the trigger puts a smile on my face 100% of the time (real mature I know). Add cleanup to the equation however and the ease with which the mn cleans up combined with it's ridiculous accuracy(91/30, sniper) huge fireballs (M38,M44) more than compensate for its non-semi-auto-ness. All and all my vote goes for the mosin*

I've got to go apologize to some sks's now or I'll be in the dog house.

For me, a nice non-refurbished SKS with an intact, internally welded pin mag...as close to an un**cked with SKS as possible, and SKS's are just plain fun, cheap to shoot, accurate (for a military semi-auto) and super reliable. SVT's don't do it for me as shooters, but are nice to hold and look at. Mosins never really interested me (Mausers do :) ), and yes, Mosins are super popular these days.

I am also going to throw out Nagant revolvers! Really like them.

Not a fan of pistols. It's guy was allowed to carry one in his pickup then would have many but only allowed to shoot the mat a range is lame.

It would make an interesting poll - not what you own but which is your favorite to shoot? I suppose you would have to have all three to participate. Or have shot them all - I haven't.

And somehow have a round count along with each poll entry to establish which rifle is really getting the shooting time in.

For me that would be: SKS - 2000 rounds........SVT-40 - 300 rounds.......Mosin Nagant - 200 rounds.:)

I shoot at a very busy and populated club (I think we have 6,000 members now?) and I shoot quite often. There are multiple SKS on the main rifle range basically all the time. When I bring Mosins or Tokarevs I might be the only person who is shooting one that day.

I think SKS's are more popular but probably there are more Mosins in total, My favorite is the SVT when they are running just right.
