What is the recoil like in a 303 british?

As I stated it is a Parker Hale (monte carlo) replacement stock, not a bubba.

IIRC any civilian modification done to an original military rifle by someone outside the military service and profession of "gunplumber", is still technically a bubba job.

the lesser evil seems to be if the modifications are reversible as in drop-in stocks, and the rifle metal left intact...ie not cut down.

But yes Parker hale is a good stock, I had one on a bubbed #4, and yes it kicked pretty hard, IMHO. :D

if she's recoil sensitive-pick up a nice Husqvarna 6.5x55 from Anthony at Tradeex, that will do her handily, take anything in NorthAmerica, accurate, low recoil and second to none in quality -should be able to get a nice one for under $250-about what you could sell the Parker Hale 303 for

As above - the 303 in PH guise is approaching collectibility. BTW - They usually have more mods than a new stock ie shortened barrel, new sights, D+T, 5 rd mag, etc. Flog it and get a 6.5 X 55 - your wife will reward you ....

No cartridge seems to generate a wider range of opinions on 'how hard it kicks' than the .303 British. I guess it just goes to show how much of it is in the rifle (fit, weight, recoil pad vs hard but plate...), not the cartridge. And I guess that's the point here too - the most important thing is whether the gun fits the shooter, not the cartridge.

Can't, it was my uncle's and my father was going to give it to my brother who has been sitting on his PAL application for 5 or 6 years. So I am getting it, the deal is that I never sell it.

It may very well have more mods, I haven't seen it in years but I do believe it does have a shorter mag. What is a D&T?

I would have a hard time calling the Parker-Hale conversions I have seen 'bubba". They did a fine job on those rifles.
