I'm not 12(6) so I need to buy something with a barrel longer than 105mm. What is the smallest gun I can buy, within this limitation?

So far in my search the Keckler & Koch P7M8 looks smallest at 6.73" overall length. Although I have to get an accurate barrel measurement as it is listed as 4.13" which is VERY close to 105mm and may be too short for a restricted classification.

Any other small guns you can suggest?

Chris

I've seen some posts with members showing off their restricted H&K P7s. You could always get a rebarreled 12(6) gun. Some guys have gone that route before. Like find a PPK with a longer barrel installed.

small restricted guns

small restricted guns available;
Questar's glocks; G26 , G19
Walther P99
Ruger P345
Steyr M series ( haven't handled one, but often hear how compact it is)

Rebarreled guns can be longer

I was considering a Glock 26, with a 106mm barrel, but it is actually LONGER than the HK. You need a combination of a chamber that is very far back in the gun AND a 105.1mm barrel.

The HK compact tactical is in fact a Full size gun when compared to the glock full size guns. It was the same length and height as my glock 17 only thicker.

By far the most compact even with the extended 106mm barrel is the glock 26/27/33

The glock 19 and glock 36 as well are super compact.

You will never regret buying a P7M8. It is the smallest restricted pistol (although the 380 Berettas are close).

Now I am wondering about exceptions

I had a quick look at the guns that are exceptions to the prohibited rules according to:

http://www.cfc-cafc.gc.ca/info_for-renseignement/factsheets/r&p_e.asp

Certain handguns for use in international sporting competitions are excluded from the prohibition affecting the short-barreled and 25 or 32 calibre handguns. These handguns therefore are considered restricted firearms under the Criminal Code. These handguns are the:

Make / Model / Calibre
1. Benelli / MP 90 S / 32 S&W Long
2. Domino / OP 601 / 22 Short
3. Erma / ESP 85 A / 32 S&W Long

34. Walther / GSP / 32 S&W Long
35. Walther / OSP / 22 LR
36. Walther / OSP / 22 Short
37. Walther / OSP / 32 S&W Long

But looking at them they are all full-on target pistols, and most look longer that 105mm anyway, so there were no compacts to be found.
