Hey all, I've got a Ross M10 that may or may not be going on the EE. What's a fair price for it?

Someone sanded the stock many moons ago from the looks of it and as a result the unit markings are faint and can't really be made out clearly. The nose cap has a faint "DP" mark but no other component does. The only serialized parts are the receiver and barrel and they don't match. Overall I'd guess that this is a restored sporter. The wood is scarred and has repairs on it so I'm sure it saw action in France, as likely did the rifle but not together. Bore is quite nice and shiny, a surprise to be sure.

I am no expert but I would say 900 is reasonable. Be prepared to take less

Reasons:

the stock is sanded which is not desirable but you can still see the stocks marks which is nice
the magazine looks pretty roughed up
I can't tell from pictures but it looks like you are missing some rear sight pieces. Good luck finding 100 year old parts, then good luck finding ross parts
restored sporters are less valuable

It's had the bbl shortened guy's...I'd be surprised if it garnered more than 350. Mix matched serial numbers, bayonet cap from a different rifle and DP marking? Not worth much IMO
As far as action, one buys the rifle, not the story.
But ask what you will...just don't hold your breath waiting for big $$$$

It is not an M10. It is a Mk III. It appears to be a restored sporter and whoever did it did well to find an original stock - sanded or not. The Ross cartouche and unit markings on the butt are a definite plus. Serial numbers on the receiver and barrel would be unusual. The serial number should be on the right face of the butt. The P-14 upper band and rear sight issues (if any) are a strong negative. I think $900.00 is a bit of a reach given the missing upper band (unobtanium), rear sight (?) and, possibly, other issues. I think $750.00 to $800.00 would be more reasonable.

Edit
Good catch tokguy!
All bets are off if the bbl has been shortened. Nothing more than a collection of parts. That stock would be the most valuable part, and even that would have to be extended. $300.00 to $350.00.

Rear sight is complete and unmolested on this rifle.

I'd never actually noticed it was shorter than it should be, and with the wrong nose cap as this is my only Ross. What a pity. I bought it for $750 sight unseen from Reliable Gun and thought I was getting a steal of a deal.

About 300. I bought a P14 yesterday for 250,full wood action original and matching. Problem it sits in a drill stock. Non original stock. A desporterized action. If it had the original stock it would be worth more than double what I paid. Perfect bore it should make a good shooter. At least someone didn't drill for a scope.

This thread is a useful reference.
Is this the same rifle that the OP was wondering if it was safe to shoot in another thread?

Well for $200 less than the asking price for this one I bought a vg condition MK III with a correct bayo and scabbord. Mine would probably be worth $1100 maybe a bit more. I think the BTT button will be getting used a lot for the listing for this one from the OP IMHO. Maybe you should ask ‘Reliable’ for your money back and send it back to them instead. That would be a lot less grief for you.
