HI all
An old friend has this and wants to ask me to sell it for him. He does not know what it is and how much he should ask for it so any useful information fire away. Thanks in advance.

Rear sight looks strange, is it missing something? Rust on the hammer means not well cared for for, a must for blackpowder arms. I'll bet the bore looks worse. $200 is my guess but wouldn't even pay that sight unseen.

I think the rear sight is an added on tang site that is not all there. Your estimate of $200.00 is closer to what it would actually sell for in its current condition. I sold one of these 2 years ago in excellent, hardly used condition and I finally got $275.00 for it at the time.

It's missing the rear sight, and rust on the lock might mean rust in the barrel, or worse, fouling and pitting that's been busy in there for goodness knows how long. If he were able to show clear bright photos of inside the lock and inside the barrel a better assessment could be made - without knowing the bore it would be in the $100-$200 range, if it's nice and
clean inside but just externally a bit poor, $200? Maybe $300 if internally pristine with bright shiny bore, but that's the top end. If that's just old dirt and dust on the action then a good cleaning will increase value. Also looks like the front sight is a bit odd and there's some bluing wear or something - that would need a clearer picture to get a better idea.

The front sight is a hooded target globe sight and the tang sight is missing its stem.If the seller can t find the rest of the tang sight then you would need a rear sight and a new front sight as a standard rear won t work with the current front as it sits too high.My self personally I would pass on that gun unless I got it real cheap and even then depending on the condition of the bore it might be more trouble than its worth. Also if you decide to buy it, try and remove the nipple first as it maybe rusted in place and the threads holding it might be severely corroded. A used BP guns value depends on how keen the previous owner was in cleaning his gun after shooting as they will rust out severely if not properly maintained
