ok, so I was doing some reading on it, some were vz-52 7.62x45 and some were vz-52/57 in 7.62x39.

how do I know the difference?

In the second picture you posted here, it appears to my eyes, to NOT be a 7.62x39mm rifle case.
Option B is the longer original Czech case IMO.
BxN points to Czech manufacture.

See it here:

Put a 7.62x 45 cartridge in the chamber. If it goes in all the way, that's what she is. If not, 7.62 x39. :D Think the 57 on the receiver ring refers to the year of man. Mine is identical but says 56. Sarco or Numrich probably has mags. Trick would be to get them here.

ok, well my next question is:

A. Can I actually get cheap ammo.

if not then .....

B. Does anyone want this thing? I am about to drive to te RCMP and have them chop it into peices

Are you nuts??? What kind of "gunnut" are you? You would seriously let the RCMP chop it up? That makes me a little sad and angry. I'll take it if no one els will, and I'm sure you could throw it up on the EE and someone will buy it from you.
PM me if no body takes it.

There's always some one who will take it. Why have it destroyed??!! Seems savage to me.
I'll take it to save it from the smelter.

well I guess I am not a huge gunnut. I like my Five Gun System.

Long Gun
Battle Rifle
Assault Rifle
Shot Gun
Pistol

Anymore and its just not necessary, (in my opinion)

Like I said though if somone can hook me up with an Ammo sourse I might keep it. But I dont like having some old Eastern European thing sitting around, I would not buy a Lada and park it in my lawn..

anyways if there is no ammo sourse I will pm one of you to take it off my hands. I will even try and track down the mag that is somewhere.

And come on guys, thats why I asked here first, I knew somone would want to take it, I am not going to turn it in, I just dont want it at all.

I will pay shipping, and then some... even without knowing what it is... just to keep it from being chopped up...

Seriously....

Box it up, I'll take it...

I'll even pay you for your time...

as would I.

you have three options here, prob more actually.
Please don't destroy this rifle.

7.62x45 is not readily available. If you are planning on shooting it, make sure it is a 52/57 in 7.62x39.

Depending on what caliber, ammo will either be easy, or hard to find. I suspect the others are correct in saying this is a vz52. the garand style safety is a a good hint.

Some were re-barrel to accomidate 7.62x39mm. If so, you are in luck, as ammo is easy to find. as long as the bore looks good and the gas system is clean, you should be g2g.

if it's 7.5x45mm, me thinks you may have a slight bit of trouble tracking down some ammo.

im sure reloading is an option?

Not really. The original ammunition is steel cased, Berdan primed.
About the only brass that can be sized and trimmed is 6.5x54 MS and 6.5x52MC. These are hardly readily availale in bulk.
