Just because you don't see the value, does not mean others don't.

This is a Military Surplus rifle (Milsurp), and their are people who collect these things. Even though ammo may be hard to find does not mean a collector does not want it for an example for their collection.

Getting this chopped up is essentially like taking a few $100 bills and burning them. It has value.

Their is already a bit of interest in this rifle, and you could probably get at least $200 for it at sale.

Humm.... strange. If its a 1957 Vz 52 then it should be 7.62x39. By then the Czechs were "pressured" (forced) to only make the rifle in 7.62x39 and rechamber many others. I wish it was the other way around since the 7.62x45 was clearly a superior round. So superior that the development of the 5.45x39 would have never happend. There is a dude in the states that makes and sells 7.62x45 brass that you load with boxer primers. If the rifle is chambered in 7.62x45, then its pretty valuble to collectors. I know id sure love to have it even if I could never fire it.

A vz52 or vz52/57 is on the want list for me. Love the red rifles. You are lucky to have it.

I have a VZ 52/57 and i think your nuts for wanting to give it up to the RCMP.

That is a VZ 52. Have you checked that its not sleaved for X39?
The lack of dimples under the rear sight prove its an original 52

Just so you know... I just sold one of these rifles.. they are quite rare. in 7.62 x45..
You can probably get $400 for it if you find the right buyer..
Yes you can make the brass from other brass with the right dies...

DONT Destroy it. PLEASE... Sell it.. to someone who will appreciate it..
