What is this Parker Hale rest used for? Beyond the obvious, what particular setting would this be used in? It is about 8" or 20cm high.

It was used for Target Shooting as a place to set your rifle on the mound at the firing point. I have one just like it. Keeps the rifle out of the mud or off the wet grass.

On that note

Anybody got a spare for sale?????:D

I am constantly amazed by the esoteric accessories available for the Lee.

Oh by the way, I do have a xerox copy of the 1937 P-H catalog if anyone wants it as a freebie. Just hate to throw it out.

I would LOVE one ,nobody makes stuff like Parker Hale and Holland and Holland
and the other gunsmithing firms did then. Nowadays even high end gun manufacterers it is the machine that makes the gun and the operator is easily replaced. 80 years ago you could get new milling machines and micrometeres but lose your craftsmen and you were out of business. It was amazing what they could do with simple tools and open sights.
