Looks like a Belgian .380, not .442 or .444 or .41 (watch out, many of the so called .44 are .41), loading gate is missing.

It says 45 on the barrel but looks like a .380 (measure the bore and let us know, please) as I said, value around $200, more with loading gate ($350 to 400) and more if it is a 45.

There are so many around without loading gate and you basically have to manufacture one yourself (inc. the little spring), takes many hours of work if you can do it.

In Canada ?.....

I wish....;)

any guess on the year? and do you think it was some type of service revolver?

No service revolver, look at the cylinder back and outside, probably find an oval with E L G letters inside, crown above is after 1893, no crown is before 1893. If no E L G mark or E L G with crown, those are hard to bring into Canada as possibly not antique.

i removed the cylinder and had to do some scrubbing but found it, it does have the crown above the E L G it is also stamped 45 and there is a C with a crown above it as well as a P with a star above it. do you know what all these symbols mean?

Mostly just inspector marks. E L G with crown above means that is was made after 1893 and Liege proofed (shot 4 times double charge I believe). The 45 is kind of stupid, I have 2 x Belgian revolvers which are stamped 44 but are in fact 41 caliber. You can go to www.littlegun.be for many pictures and info. Don't know about the C with crown. P with star is an inspector mark. P with crown means that it was made after 1894.
