What is this savage sporter?

Hello, I picked up this old savage 22 long rifle repeater and I'm not sure what it is. Just says "savage sporter" on the barrel. It has an odd 5 shot magazine with a knob on the bottom to take it out. Anyone know what model this is and ball park how old it could be? Thanks.

Looks like a Savage model 23 sporter. Made around 1937. Look in front of the Savage name for a model #

It's a 23a Savage Sporter, made prior to 1933, 1933 to 1942 were an updated model 23aa( Speed lock firing pin, #### on opening, deluxe model had checkering).
Fine rifles, Accurate, very good workmanship.

I like these gems. One piece barrel/receiver. HAd a couple butchered model 22 pass through, and a really sad 19NRA. Don't misplace that magazine!

Right on I didn't think it was that old. It's a good shooter. Ejects the brass out at 2 o'clock which is weird lol. Was a find a local gun shop, was looking for a inexpensive 22 for grouse
