Picked this up recently. Would appreciate any info on the model and value. Unfortunately it has been bubba cleaned and scrubbed. The forestock doesn’t appear to be proper(off a newer model) and the front barrel band definitely is not original. It is 52 cal and has decent rifling. The pellet primer appears intact and functioning. The breach block is off at an odd angle in case you didn’t notice in the pics.

The carbine pictured is actually a Model 1852. The Model 1852 has a spring mounted in the forearm that retains the lever hinge pin. The Model 1853 has a stud mounted in the frame to retain the hinge pin. The Model 1852 was made from 1853 to 1855. Total made about 5,000.

Why do you suspect the the forearm and barrel band are not proper?

Powderman

The barrel band appears to be homemade and very thin. The forearm has a slot in the bottom for a spring to hold the barrel band in place and it does not appear to have ever had a spring in it. Just my speculation.

What leads you to believe it is the confederate copy and not The sharps slant breach 1852? I’m curious? The one in the link is copy of a 1853. Not the same.
