I have some of this 50. bmg ammo. I was told it is a spotter tracer round. is this true the head stamp is LC53

recce said:Yep, yellow for spotter (puts out a visible puff to indicate a hit) and the red indicates tracer. The round looks to be the standard length. If it was shorter than the 99 mm (IIRC) it would mean that it was a spotter round from a 106 mm recoiless rifle. (.50 but with a shorter case).
Spotter/tracer were used with the centurion tank ranging gun, if I'm not mistaken, amongst other applications.
