What is this.......VZ 58 .223, normal?

its stove pipping rounds and jamming up it even fractured a casing in two! ejecting half and leaving the other half in the chamber it than cycled another round and jammed it thru the jammed brass i did not notice the bolt still being open.... also im having issues with my CSA mag well adapter, they may be related to my ejector issue but im unsure Ive upgraded my followers and im using good mags but it still jams and the follower jumps past the bolt catch causing all sorts of issues, This Firearm has been in for repair once before with a firing pin fall ive not even had 300 rounds thru it

I hope it does not seem that im over reacting, I just put a good amount of money out for this firearm and there is some real messy workmanship on this thing From the ejector issue to the mag well issues and all kinds of bubbles under the finish, my wife fired this and she suffered from the first malfunction........the WHAT IF of the whole event has really stressed me out

You are not over reacting. That 858 is an abortion. I would ask for my money back.
P.S. That extractor post is what is giving you the nightmares (For all those that don't know what I am talking about its the area that has looked to been altered in the photo's.)
 
Sounds like headspace issues. These CSA 556 rifles are starting to strike me as garbage. My fathers is #####ed as the receiver was improperly heat treated and has massive lug setback... splits every damn empty in half.

Different issue than the one stated hear but I hear ya grief and know what you mean.
Hell they should atleast test fire this rifle after pressing the barrels in right??? Also why do they still press fit them? If I was redesigning them I would tap and thread them in. It's not like they are not going to retail for top dollar any ways right?

That sounds like what happened to mine. Mine was replaced under warranty (I asked for a 7.62x39 instead - it arrived today!).

Nitroxrunsthrume - No problem. I hope CSA can straighten things out for you. Their response to my issue was awesome.

This all kind of sucks because I just got a CSA .223 Vz 58 and now all the suddenly I jump onto Canadian Gun Nuts after few months and everyone has a problem with the .223 model. At least if it messes up, i'll ask to get it switched for a 7.62x39 model instead.
 
You know what man CSA based on the issues im having believe mine was not heat treated right and if thats the case they said ill need a full refund or a replacement, and it was nice having a company be so quick to accept possible blame and responsibility and jump right into help mode.......unlike others ive been dealing with!!!
so if you do start having issues CSA will help ya out i feel comfortable telling you that

On a side note i don't want a refund really, my wife loves the idea of using the .223 and she's comfortable with that round so i would wait for a new .223, i love the idea of 10 round mags thats the reason i got the thing

CSA's response when I emailed them made me want to own another of their rifles.

I would go as far to say its the best I've had when dealing with firearms. Its good to know that companies like this exist.

Edited to add (pics or it didn't happen?) - my new 7.62 VZ! The NEA handguard is in the mail.

Thanks! That is a factory folder I picked up from Corwin Arms for a reasonable price. Cheek weld is better than expected with the para cord. Just from dry firing the rifle and practicing mag changes I'm liking it thus far. We'll see how it is when actually running the gun.

I had an Ace AKFX on my last one, but I wanted to try something different.

I was really happy to get the rifle back. I didn't realize how much I missed it!

My CZ 858 had a side folding stock and it works fine just it tends to rattle loose after awhile of shooting. You will notice your accuracy drop when that starts to happen. As you squeeze the trigger, the stock is also moving around changing your point of aim. Once I lock tight it, it was fine and instant better accuracy. The side folder was sweet for carrying it well going on a long adventure trail ride. Forgot it was there sometimes.
 
To the OP were you using norinco .223? I have found that the norinco brass is softer and maybe a little thinner than US made brass. I also think that the powder is faster burning suited to the CQ's 14.5" barrel. This added to the CZ's more violent extraction cycle is causing the case seperations.I discovered these things when i converted a 7.62 cz to .223, I got the same case breakage issues the only thing that fixed it was to tighten the head space to the absolute minimum. If you are using norinco try some US ammo it might help. This still doesn't help with the bad machinig job in your gun.
 
Slam fire is because of the firing pin being stuck as it is a free floated firing pin system. Although your rifle's bolt is newly manufactured the dumb @$$ at CSA USA never re-made the firing pin and just used the x39 one. So time to time this issue will arise. As for the binding and FTF issues it all arises from the AR magazine conversion kit you got installed.
A) either there is a defective part.
B) it was not machined right.
Either way I would send it back to were you bought it from and tell them you want it fixed or give you your money back.
As for others. This is my last word of advise on this subject...
Avoid the CSA 223 model's at all costs. As the manufacture will only realize that they product needs an over haul only when there sales drop off from this abortion of a monstrosity called the CSA 223.
 
They make changes to there product when they see their warranty centers are crammed full of warranty claims with all the guns being fixed for the same issue. These are guns being fixed at their cost. People not buying the product will not result in a product overhaul. It will result in the product being removed from the market since it would seem there is no demand for it. CSA gives all customers 5 years of warranty. That's a really long warranty term.

CSA is not from the USA and there is no CSA USA branch. There is a company called Czech Point that buys parts kits from CSA, and assembles the rifles themselves with some American made parts. Century Arms does the same with there version of the Vz 58.

well im getting a replacement rifle..........7.62x39 folding stock and beaver barf, im really looking forward to it. i have just lost trust in the .223 models im sure there fine once the bugs are worked out but not for me, to bad i have 5 lar 15 mags 2 couplers and 2 csa adapters for my .223 and a few upgraded followers

Good, can't beat the cz858, thats a different beast, always goes bang. Never trusted that csa stuff myself, always go original.
 
Well this is the rifle that was sent because of a misunderstanding, I was wanting a folding stock BUT this is really not that bad, What do you guys think should i wait for a folding stock or accept this one, I do like the pistol grip but im un sure of the collapsable stock but that said i can add my own folder down the road......input
