A 10 second net search shows this. W.W. I though. That's doesn't mean much. I'm wondering if it's complete. And what it indicates. Dobbie McInnes Ltd. were instrument makers. Add the W's. .gracesguide.co.uk/Dobbie_McInnes

Thank you for your input, I did come across the web site you listed when I was looking this up but could not find anything that matched. I believe my grandfather (Les Taylor) was a tank commander with the Algonquin Regiment. My mother has yet to fill out the forms to have them release his info and he never talked about his time in the war with me.
The two arms with the half circle glass (one red and one green) rotate around and there is a glass prism that also rotates. The center pin protrudes below the device and I am guessing it gets leveled with the fish eye.
The jist of it is this..."Antique Nautical Compass Azimuth Mirror with Box
Rare antique (c. 1900's) "The Dobbie-McInnes Limited No. 1443 ~ Glasgow" Azimuth Mirror with original wooden (mahogany?) box. An azimuth mirror is a nautical scientific instrument that fits onto a compass binnacle so the operator can take bearings. The device enables both the compass and the object to be seen at the same time and in the same direction."
