what is this?

this pin is part of the personal effects tht where "recovered" from the obdy of a dead German somewhere in Holland by a rifleman of the South Saskatchwan Regiment. what is it? does it have any collectible value?

Its a Hitler Youth Proficiency Lapel Badge in (what appears to be) Bronze.

Its kind of like a scouts badge but for the HJ and it covered everything. It would be issued with a book that they HJ member would have to keep track his score in a variety of activities such as sports, military training etc. They all were numbered just like the SA sports badge or the DRL sports badge.

As for Price, it varies with area and market. On the Interent at specific Third Reich collectors sites they could be upwards of $100 USD. However with the prices of this type of militaria rising, I have noticed alot more people are getting out of it. You would definately not get that kind of a price here in Winnipeg.

It says: Fur Leistungen in der LH. In English: For services in the LH. In Holland, LH might mean: Lunenberger Heide.

The L.H. is actually read as H.J.(hitler jugend) hitler youth.

I see there look's to be a maker mark on the back,but is blurred in pic.I can ID the maker for you if post info or better pic,it should be in one my guides.
