The story I got was that this one was lost in the woods and found about 5 years later, what is it? I know what the 7.62 is but what crest is it?

Czech K98 that was converted to 308 by the Israelis.

Completely disassemble it. Clean everything. Brass brush NOT STEEL! on the metalwork. DAWN (blue) and hot water. Then take a look.

Bolt and firing pin is working fine, bolt comes out. Bore looks bad, might be a candidate for electrolysis or molasses rust removal

Leave it alone and bring it out every now and then to see if it will tell you it's secrets.

There's nothing you can do to that rifle to make it more presentable or valuable.

IMHO, it's not a shooter any longer. Especially if the lugs on the bolt and lug seats in the receiver are in similar condition.

Even the parts are worthless, unless you can find someone that needs rust pitted bits to complete a similar rifle.

Others are likely correct, but I would boil all the metal bits in water and then lightly buff with 0000 steel wool before coming to a conclusion. Steaming can work as well as boiling when properly set up. You just might be pleasantly surprised and I don't see a down side.

sand blast it, parkerize it, if the bore is ok.
