What is this?

I seen an episode of CSI, where a sniper was using this round (308/223 sabot). He was using it so that if the fired bullet were to be recovered by the cops, there would be no rifleing marks on it that could be matched to a barrel, or even identify the make/model gun it was fired from. Sometimes ya gotta love CSI.:D

LOL, yes, one of the more infamous episodes.
The subject has been pretty well covered here, the reason you used to find them in places like NS was simply the game laws. Coyotes could be taken year round, originally with a permit, but you were restricted to 100grs (or 110, I can't remember for certain which), for a projectile weight.
So if you had a 30-30, 308 or 30-06 you could go buy some Remington Accelerators, and have at them legally. Some dealers offered reloads with leight weight plinkers, but usually just sold the accellerators.
