What is up with Federal primers?

I think I may have got the last case of federal #100 small pistol primers in all of creation last week, because I have had one helluva time locating any of them at all these days.

The guy I talked to at Wholesale (Calgary) said that it was because the US military was buying them all, BUT I'm not sure I believe that - Federal is supposed to be the softest cup of all the primers out there, and Milspec primers are supposedly crazy hard, like twice as hard as the hardest civilian primers... and besides, CCI has that contract.

Has anyone else seen this problem in locating primers?

There are a few threads around here WRT primer shortages. Particularly small pistol primers. I've been stockpiling rifle primers for the last few months, so hopefully they'll be available again before I run out.

Seems that - every few years - there's a primer or other component shortage. A lot of the old timers have taken to stockpiling during times of plenty

Go to P&D, they had lots of them a few weeks ago.

Cleaned 'em out almost... just a few single 100 packs left behind the counter when I was though with them!
