What is worthy of replacing the 858

Its the mags you are using. Norinco mags work fine so do elanders

I had better luck with the Beowolf mags than "proper" AR mags. But I will try the factory mag, previously unused due to it's 5 round handicap.
Still, if it uses AR mags, it should bloddy work with AR mags. My Norc M4 feeds fine with any mag.

Laugh2 Laugh2

That guys face. I can't stop laughing.

LOL

My Chinese SKS no longer functions. Both my 858's do

What`s wrong with it. Maybe with your units it turned out that way. Considering there`s several times more SKS`s in Canada than VZ58`s, owners report WAAAY fewer problems with SKS`s. Secondly, the thread on how cold have you shot your SKS reinforces the belief that Russian guns are extensively tested and designed for. I like both rifles but would not have as much confidence in VZ58 in -20C shooting and no failures.

The bolt split down the one side, hairline crack. Lodged the firing pin in the forward position.

Czechoslovakia was under Soviet control while the VZ.858 was being designed and tested. Although a lot of lead way was given the the Chech designers, the firearm was required meet a number of Soviet Weapon design criteria.
I've put thousands of rounds through both, as stated one functions the other doesn't. Not much more I can say

My good friends SKS-D jams all the time,I cant figure out why. It's a feed issue. His is Chinese however
