I am looking to buy one as my first pistol ... I would like to know if it is crap or what you think of it???

Any drawbacks of it..... reviews would be nice to hear from real shooters in canada

My buddy has one which he shoots in IDPA and he loves it. He has has no problems with it. I don't care for the trigger as I am more used to Glock triggers.

Yea I seen the safty trigger I dont know if I like that aswell .... Is it a pain in the a$$ with the two safty`s on it the grip and the trigger?

No. I don't even notice either.

The XD 40 I had was a great gun. One of the best I've owned. I keep waiting for the XDm in 9mm.

The XD45 is an excellent piece of kit for the money. The safety on the grip is even less noticeable than on a 1911 and the safety trigger is not a problem at all. It is accurate, stable under recoil and it works. What more could you want?

I was commenting more on the feel of the trigger pull, I do not notice the lever in the trigger either just like on a Glock or any of the trigger safety guns.

By all accounts the XD-45 is a good pistol. They are not my cup of tea though as the slide seems bulky and the pistol top heavy. I am used to shooting cZ 75s and P35s. Hope you get an opportunity to shoot one before buying.

I'll start by saying I am not a fan of 1911's (ducking)... I found the XD45 the softest shooting 45.
That said, I've only fires the XD, a 1911 and a Ruger P345.
Have you considered a Glock?
I've heard many good things about them, especially the SF model.

My .02.............

I don't care for 'em.

NAA.

Get one, you won't regret it at all.....I bought one, XD45 ACP Tactical all black, and my brother got the black/stainless combination

the trigger gets better and better, the more you shoot it....

get the "Don's XD Guide Rod .45 Tactical Fatty" from http://xdguys.com/index.php to put a bit of weight on the front of the gun to control a bit of the muzzle jump, and enjoy

easy to field strip, clean, assemble, and not bad on the accuracy scale either....

you can polish the barrel as well, it will match up the guide rod nicely....

here's mine

I've shot the XD9(and a lot of other models), obviously not as much kick but overall I enjoyed it. Felt really good in my hands, trigger pull was fairly light and crisp.

Since you live in edmonton, I would suggest going to Phoenix range, i beleive they have an xd45 as a range gun, try before you buy. I did, found out that I prefer a good solid steel frame as opposed to the poly frame. Felt better in my hand, i found i am more accurate with a steel frame too. But having said that i have seen ample shooters who are acurate with the poly guns, I would never say that one is better than the other(poly vs steel frame). I think a handgun is a personal tool and says much about the person weilding it, you owe it to yourself to do some shooting with a variety of styles before you put out the cash. So... check Phoenix gun range, and check Wild West shooting centre in West edmonton mall. Wild west doesnt have an xd, but they have a glock, 1911, and 2011 in 45acp. They have a huge variety of 9mm to pick from, and a few 40s&w as well as others......

Living in AB allows you some unique oppertunities to shoot at public ranges before you buy, or just for recreation.

ps I still liked springfeild and ended up buying a Springfeild 1911 a1 loaded, love it!

I hate the gun, had one that i bought brand new and it wouldn't shoot reloads or factory, every mag was a jam. Guess i got lucky, other ppl stand by them. I prefer polymer Taurus's

The pistol is indeed top heavy. The grip texture could be improved. Unless you totally master the way you grip this pistol, it will move alot in your hand. I bought mine new last fall and I had some light primer strikes. We found out the striker spring was a bit weak. After that issue, both of my mag wouldn't release properly. I got 2 replacements from Springfield Armory. I sold this pistol no longer after. Great shooter but not impressed with the overall quality based upon my experience.

XD45 is a great gun for the money, no doubt. You will not go wrong buying one. But you might also want to look at the S&W M&P in .45 as well. It is a lot of gun for a very reasonable price and you have the added advantage of being able to customize the fit of the grip with interchangeable backstraps.

I wont buy a glock ever in my life or a 9mm... I am looking for .40 or .45 weight has no effect to me I use a 12lb ar most days.. budget around the 1000.00 mark and must have under belly rail and kendex drop leg avabile.... I want a pistol that is easy to strip and shoot and has no gremlin issues what so ever.. As for a 1911 I will buy one in the new year ..... I was planing on hitting the range next tuesday and getting the feel for every pistol that the local ranges have to offer.. If I fumble with the xd-45 with the grip at all I wont get it... #1 thing for me it has to be comfy and fun to shoot
