This be my one if called upon to remove a pest critter. I don't go after bear as an itch I need to scratch, but no worries on dumping a persistent bugger that poses a threat to land owners & livestock. I load 180 gr hardcast at 1500 fps in me Mosin and go for neck breaker shots. Free pepperoni meat at least.

I haven't yet decided to hunt black bear this year but if I do I'll use the .44Mag. Marlin 1894 I got for Christmas.

I am using a P14, fully modernized action (sight ears machined off, and profiled much like a Remington 700. Put a boyds stock, #### on opening kit. Sure doesnt look like the original any more! Shoots great! Wish I could post pictures here. Good ol 303 British.

Maybe the Mathews Halon 6 bow, the Marlin SBL 45-70, the TC Encore 45-70 or the Tikka 300WM.
It'll depend on the terrain and hunting style.
