Many of us favour a certain brand and I would like to hear yours (if you have one)

I was a die hard Remington guy before the marlington era ..... I still have one in my safe that will never leave my hands ..... I drooled over it as a kid in the black and white lebaron catalogue around the woodstove at the cottage.... It's a rem 700mr in aught six.... I bought an sps a couple of years ago and was dissapointed .....

The tide turned when I bought a Ruger....

When I unboxed it I was less than impressed with the tight action... Very hard to cycle the bolt....but after one shot it was smooth as silk (yes one shot)..... Very tight tolerances...... I out a good optic on it and tried it out with factory ammo and have been shooting MOA in .308 with factory core locs.... All this in a .308 scout btw....

Since then, I have traded most of my stable for rugers and not a single one has dissapointed...

So now, Ruger is my brand for purchase.... I have others I won't let go that at great shooters, but curious to see what others go to and why....

I wouldn't claim to be "loyal" to any brand. I've had remmys, savages, mossburgs, tikkas, weatherby, norinco. You name it, Ive had an absolutely garbage Remington (Shotgun) I will never buy remmy shot guns again, but a surprisingly good one also (Rifle) and cant see a big reason to not buy another other then I don't find their pricing competitive. I've had a savage that was an absolute POS but I've had savage rim fires and a mean 308 that I loved (just gota get by those stocks, prices so cheap boyds are usually not far behind the rifle). I have a weatherby S1 that was a laser, just a bit to heavy and I didn't use the chosen cal much so I sold it, I would definitely buy another S2 good price and tons of goodies. I just got a tikka that lives up to the name minus it has very weak shell extraction... (bolt action, the shell hardly makes it out of the chamber... Got the rifle used).

They all have their ups and downs. You GENERALLY get what you pay for but in this firearms world things can be deceiving and tricky... The weight and accuracy of this tikka may have me buying more. As long as I can sort out this weak extraction issue... Its all hype, ive seen dudes with SKS's out shoot people with 3k bolt guns.

I like Rugers as well. In their price bracket and for most hunting applications. Firstly they make the No. 1 which is completely unique at anything close to their price. The M77 is CRF and they tend to be smooth and not sloppy. Say what you want about investment casting vs. Forging, but I have no doubt as to the strength of the Ruger receiver. They also tend to offer many more interesting designs than their American competitors. They are a heavy platform though. I have a Rem 700 target rifle and a Rem 700 mountain rifle, I've owned a lot of rifles, for general hunting I prefer the Ruger. Comparing cycle times with a shot timer I'm consistently faster cycling a certain long action Ruger than any other rifle I have ever owned. Not that a few hundredths of a second matter in the field, but it says something for the rifle.

Great feedback... Especially on the weatherby.... I know they are good... I just can't personally shoot them right.... The stocks don't seem to fit me for some reason......

I am brand loyal of the Steyr Mannlicher rifles, my latest aquisition is the 308 Scout Steyr Canadian Ranger edition ( awesome)... JP.

Not brand but region. I prefer firearms made in Europe, Specifically Germany, Finland, and Italy. They are generally of higher quality, innovative and well designed compared to American "consumer commodity" arms and are relatively free of the cheap designs and shoddy workmanship so common in the USA firearms manufactured in recent years.

Interested in your browning choice based on experience.....

Xbolt in 308, nosler bt reloads, only 3 shot groups but they were tight at 100yrds.
microhunter, fairly light and plenty accurate for hunting.
Love the action. Quick, and takes a scope very well.

Considering ditching my savage .223 range/supposed coyote rifle for another xbolt.

I have tikkas, rems,cz and savage. my customs are based on rem 700's and I do like rems but I only buy older better ones. not to keen on the new ones, seen to many issues on the new ones. if I could have only one brand it would be Remington close behind would be tikka.

Anything with a commercial 98 action, older Brownings such as the old high power. Steyr, Husavarna, Shultz and Larsen, pre 64 winny's, etc....

If I had to pick a brand loyalty it would be an older German/Austrian proof house.... Such as Suhl

Well ruger was my first gun purchase, and I do like it, but their warranty repair center ( snapshots) sucks so bad it really makes me question them!
Illbalso get a bunch of hate on this one but I actually don't mind norinco! They do what they are supposed to, are not the best but price is great!
So far I have tried many and can't say I have found one I hate ( like other things cars ext there are some I hate)
